..for this world judging by his appearence on video the other day. The guy looks close to death and its clear to see he has a major problem but it aso seems he is still a cash cow to some people who will push him until he is dead !! Has anyone seem the footage of gazza ? http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4776338/Tragic-Paul-Gascoigne-on-video.html I thought modern footbllers learnt a lesson from George Best, it seems not . This is a warning to all footballers and they should play this video to the likes of DG ! the trappings of fame and fortune are fantastic but taken the wrong way they will destroy everything. If you see the video it will upset you to see a once great player on the verge of death. The guy needs serious help but i feel as long as the checks are coming in his agent will keep peddling him around the country and milking him dry. Thoughts on Gazza, a man with an adictive personality or somebody that threw it all away ??
As a player: one of the greatest England has ever produced. Absolutely outstanding. As a man: destructively flawed. He and Best are peas in a pod. Very very sad. Graham might like a pint or two but there's never been a suggestion he's in their league to be fair.
Very sad and a great talent ruined by booze addiction, pity he wasnt used more to highlight the dangers of alcohol if uncontrolled instead of using him to make money by the hangers on.
He looks a sorry state. Such a talented player pity he wasn't advised better, but I just think he's mixed with the wrong crowd over the years and this is the end result.
He is an example of football excess and the modern players can easily fall into this when they quit playing . Gazza looks like he has been badly advised all through his career but i hope others look and learn, all that money he earnt and its all gone to blood sucking hangers on..a shame for the lad .
A person drinking as much as Gazza for such a long period would have ended up an alcoholic one way or the other.
The sad thing about it is that people around him seem to intent on saying its not the drink its other things, like his medication for example. I dont feel desperatly sad for the guy but i do think its bad that there seems to be no duty of care to player tht gave so many people so much enjoyment on the field of play, i know he is a grown up person who makes his own choices but how clear can any addict be in the mind ? I get the feeling that the media and press quite enjoy reporting about his slide to death and the fact they will have another george best type who will always be a source of a cheap story, its almost like they want to see someone like him end up in the gutter. As one of Englands greatest players you would think there would be enough people that would want to step in and give the guy the support he needs, it looks like he is past the point of no return though. We live in a culture where addiction is very well understood so its not like watching Gazza stumble around the place is something nobody can help with. We have the PFA to help former players but it seems that nobody really cares what happens to the guy. He has gone from hero to lovable joker to clown who likes a drink to raging alcoholic in quite a short time and i dont think anybody really likes to see someone fall from grace in this way. If i had a friend who was heading the same way i would be making an effort to help him, it just looks to me he has nobody telling him to stop or nobody willing to help to stop, maybe they know he is beyond help ? The media still follow him around and you would think in this modern culture of understanding people would get him under control and help him with his problems, he had enough celebrity friends who earn multi millions and its nothing to get him the help he needs, seems to me nobody really cares about the bloke now which is a shame really.
its so sad but lets get it into perspective here. Gazza is his own worse enemy and only he can decide if he wants to stop or not, he has had more opportunity than the average alcoholic on the street and he never seems to last long off the bottle. you cannot help someone if they are not prepared to help themselves and sadly gazza has a choice and he dont want to take it...I fear the damage has been done and that man dont have much time left on this earth and these cretins who are like leaches wont give a **** when he has gone....
