Despite his connections with them up the road, he was one of my favourite footballers of all time and it is sad to see him in this state. He has shunned all of the support provided over the years and I would be tempted to say it is his lot and he now needs to be left to get on with it. The hard truth is that, just like George Best, he will self-destruct despite the help available to him.
