Peterborough. What kind of fee do you believe? I think we won't listen until he decides on a new contract but if other clubs are waiting in the wings could the fee rise to what Hess thought? I mean Joe Hart was a star at this level and City paid £600k for him when he was 18. I'm not saying he's the same level but I can imagine the valuation could be at a similar price mark.

I think we will get 500k sadly, don't think we will get a million. I think he will be there number 1 keeper aswell as they have just let 2 go and only have one young one who is not good enough/

rather than start a new one, i just thought i'd add this to this thread.

looks like southend are about to sign gavin tomlin and have been intouch with daggers....pull your finger out p scally !!!

totally agree brb, i'm as gutted as much as you !

we seem to have missed out on a top player for us...someone who only our new manager can do something about now !

also agree we need to keep gazza to progress.....maybe they can take fish & martin instead !!!

So annoyed that Tomlin could be heading to Southend, I so want to see him in a Gills shirt again, come on Scally sort it out, sign him up now!

Gazzaniga is a huge talent, possibly the brightest talent i've ever seen in a Gillingham shirt. He has everything you would want from a goalkeeper and to be so good so young, is frightening. I don't want see why we should settle for less than a million. We don't need to sell him, he still has a lot of development to go and it would benefit him to stay with us for a season or two more. Of course we must be conscious of his contract and it's important that we tie him up for 2-3 more years this summer otherwise we risk him leaving on a free which for a club like Gillingham, would be hard to take.

I am so gutted that it looks like he is going but then I have to say I did expect this to happen as we don't stand in the way of players, we like to see them get to the highest level but that affects us as a club as we have to rebuild,

No player is going to sign unless there's a manager in place though! Why would you sign yourself to a club for 2 years if you don't know that you'll be played? The source of all these problems is the lack of a manager. Get one in asap, let him assess the squad and make choices. Until then we are going to miss out on signings and jealously see them prosper next season.

Am I the only individual who doesn't necessarily see the hype about Gazzaniga? Sure, he has the makings of an extremely talented goalkeeper, but he's still got an awful lot to learn and he won't necessarily learn an awful lot if he's not playing.

I don't believe that we are under the impression that we need to sell on our young talent to survive, otherwise Jack Payne wouldn't have the contract he does. But if a club comes in with let's say, 500k plus add-ons, we'll be foolish not to accept it.

I see that earlier BRB, I think if he is to go to anywhere it will be Peterborough as they will probably give him the number 1 shirt.

£750,000 plus add-ons or keep him at the club...peterborough fc have the money to do it !

hopefully he will sign a new 2 year deal with the gills and build that price up some more though, for at least one more season?!

Gazzaniga is an excellent prospect but as others have said he has a lot to learn and a few too many longrangers sailed past him for the Premiership scouts not to have some doubts. So where will he learn most ...A league 2 regular? Sitting on the bench in the Premiership? A regular in a Championship team? There must be little doubt that somewhere like Peterborough with a number 1 on his back is the right place to be and Gills concerns should be allayed if they can secure BOTH a decent fee AND a sell on clause because he just might make the bigtime. If he stays he will just standstill the same as Jack Payne has done.

I feel that if any bids are in the range of £500k as suggested the club should sell. That sort of money could be three or four good L1 players to help us with a promotion push, where the club is I feel three good established players would be much more beneficial than one potential outstanding player. While it would be a shame to see Gazza go, we have a perfectly competant keeper in Flitney so it would be too deterimental to cash in
