I just read the expected Croatia team This is a proper good international side we're playing tonight and, rumour is, Strachan is going to go with Griffiths up front, Maloney behind him and Naismith and Snodgrass wide - actually a fairly attacking line up with plenty of promise if you ask me. I'm normally not expecting much when Scotland play away in qualifiers (with good cause and ****loads of historical data to back it up) but I'm bizarrely a little hopeful tonight. If the four players I mentioned can all link up on the break, I reckon we could shock them - or at least have them ****ting themselves for part of the game. Of course, Naismith and Griffiths could conceivably fall out, Maloney disappear from the game after one stiff challenge and we get an Amsterdam-style arse-pillaging. I'm hopeful. Gonna stick my neck out and say we might grab a point/sneak a win and everyone will get unduly excited about Griffiths playing for Scotland before he inevitably lets us all down spectacularly during the Euros qualifying. Mon the Scots.
Your optimism both surprises and confuses me. Hanley and Webster @ CB! I foresee a pumping with a consolation goal chucked in when Croatia stop trying.
By ra way, Croatia have a smaller population than us (4m) yet are ranked number 4 in the world. We're ranked 74.
I only just noticed the GC thread Scotland only ever ****ing do it when no-one expects anything off us. Away to the Faroes? Getting pumped. Macedonia at home? Forget it. World Champs France in Paris? beat them. We're expected to take a bum-tearing so I'm lumping on a shocker.
That's where I reckon we'll get some joy on the break - nippy one-twos and in behind them. Strachan knows himself - there's little point in trying to get a Scotland team to count on scoring from a set piece or a corner against a big team of Croats.
