15 million got go for that incredible striker in the championship.
    Afobe,Gayle,Nihikita mouthwatering.
Just the sort of strikers we need to fire us up.
Gayle needs to be realistic on wages though, but first team football and scoring goals in a our side must be attractive.

Not sure where that valuation came from, but £15m given Gayles proven reputation in the Championship appears a good deal for someone. Maybe Leeds will go for him if Nekitah is recalled

If I had SLs wealth and I wanted to take this club to the next level then he would most definitely be purchased by me subject to wages being acceptable.

I would be delighted if we managed to sign Gayle, I was very anti the man after his original turndown, the price has got to be right and £45k per week is far to high, realism hes got to rule and that wage demand is right out of the door.

If the guy fired city up then it would be peanuts compared to the financial rewards gained.

He don’t believe in FFP. Nor does he realise that SL just can’t hand money over.

We have to stay within our budget , £15m plus wages for a guy that can command that kind of fee are well out of our league.

I think the wages would be far more of a problem than the transfer fee, and that's saying something.

Same as Assombalonga. However, decent strikers are expensive and the Pukki’s of this world are extremely rare. We might have to bite the bullet and pay (within the boundaries of FFP of course) in order to make it to the next level.

I agree , but.... £15m, plus what ever wages are commanded for that level of fee are beyond us imo,

The only way I can see we may afford it is if we sale massengo for magabucks , can replace him from within, say Morrell, and use massengo fee to cover the fee and wages of a top striker.

I think at the mo you are right, however and I am not condoning it... should we [ gamble ]take on a striker pay the wages and get promoted then everything would change.
the problem is then is it a serious step back if we don't go up in the next 2 tries … as we need to get back to FFP security in third attempt …
would he be worth a £8m fee then? or a loss of £15m Who and how many would we sell to stay above the plimsoll line? then be back at season 2016-17!

But then if we do go up we've a player on our books who has been trialled and not succeeded in the Prem with both Palace and Newcastle.

I think in addition to the wages it’s the personality too - we don’t want s ‘Billy Big Bollocks’ on huge wages upsetting the dressing room - like Van Hoidunk did at Forest back in the 1990s.
I don’t know about Gayle, but I get the impression that Assombalonga actually WANTS to join us..... I might be wrong of course.

Can’t see that he actually WANTS to join us. What allegiance or desire to want to play for us other than wages? It’s not like he is a supporter or from Bristol. I did read that he’s on 40-50k a week at Boro and when we enquired last January he still wanted that, so I can’t see that happening.

I think it’s just rumours that he wants to join us mate.
