I see Arsenal are having a little clear out and the one who's interested me is Gavin Hoyte. He plays right-back and centre-back, he's not the biggest at 5ft 11 but has tons of pace. I remember seeing him at a Youth Tournament for England on Sky sometime in the last few years, I don't get out much, and felt he had the potential to make it. Obviously Wenger did, he was made captain of the reserves at 18 and handed a 4 year contract. What's puzzling is the following; - loaned to Watford, played 7 - loaned to Brighton & Hove Albion, loan was extended, played 18 times - Then his career tails off with a couple of loans at Lincoln and A.F.C. Wimbledon Usually young loan players are loaned to clubs in the bottom division culminating in a Loan to a Championship or lower Prem club. He then plays in a trial for Stevenage Reserves against Southend and it is announced he'll see out his contract and be a free agent from this summer. Now, I'm 90% certain that his career has taken this trajectory because he hasn't improved as he should but there's that 10% chance that he's seen out his contract because he wants first team football (Arsenal only gave him 1 start) and will make it somewhere else. With our lack of depth at the back he's got to be worth a trial right?
IMO any of the players released by a top 4/5 club could be worth a trial as they must have had something that impressed some of the best scouts in the world. Still hoping Rodgers has a look at Assulin who just got released from Man C
