    Now then chaps.

    As we play Sunday this week, thought I'd draw attention to Gateshead FC, they have a home game on Saturday against Cambridge, they need a draw to guarantee a play off place.

    They are averaging about 800 heads at the minute, now I've been 3 or 4 times this season and it's good banter, good atmosphere, even if the stadium isn't exactly ideal for footy.

    If anyone's at a loose end, get down Saturday, be great to see another team from the region hit the league, there's also the possibility of a new stadum etc if they do get up, great for the area.

    <ok>

    Aye, that's a knacker like, but I think it's due to last day and all games must have same kick off times, and some clubs don't wanna clash with 'bigger' clubs in their areas.

    Beats watching ****ing Ant n Dec or some **** either way pal ;)

    It's quite mixed, but I'd say more Newcastle than Sunderland, never any bother though.

    Only generally speaking, but in my experience most from Gateshead are black and white. I have no interest in helping them out.

    Gateshead is a club and town in it's own right Bobby, and many, many folk from Gateshead are die hard Sunderland fans.

    That was something like 1958 wasn't it, Bill?

    I should think most who cared then are probably no more!

    Sure it was 1960.

    They didn't even finish bottom - 3rd bottom I think.

    I was there, it was absolutely brilliant. It was like being back in the old days playing Barnsley away. The young 'uns invaded the pitch at the end though, spotted two lads, one wearing a toon top and one wearing a sunderland top charging towards the Grimsby lot <naughty, I know>.

    Great fun, Wembley in two weeks time. Anyone who hails from Gateshead should go (regardless of allegiances).

    My first ever real football match was at the old Redheugh Park ground when Gateshead played Oldham, taken there as a build up before going to Sunderland and Newcastle weekly. Remember the Callender brothers, Bob Grey a one club goalie for about 20 years, and Willie Buchan scored two goals to win it for Gateshead.

    Oh aye, and a ride on a tram.
