Dear all Gas heads I have just came back from Portugal and we are lacking rovers tops In the bars and clubs.
All other unmentionable were hanging up in full view.
Please donate your footy tops so we can show the blue and whites off.
I have donated mine and when I left it was pinned up next to a Luton top.
It's in the Irish bar on the main square in old town albufeira.
    Up the gas

When I was in America a few years back visiting some of my wife's family, I wore my gas shirt and I was asked by a lot of people who we were with (friend/neighbours of the wife's family), what team was it. I said Bristol Rovers thinking / hoping they heard of us but they didnt. Most I spoke to never even heard of Bristol! I explained what we are about and that there are 2 sides in Bristol with a heated rivalry. Little did I know that most of them didnt know a thing a football and could only name a few famous players like Beckham. They didnt really have a clue but Rovers stuck with them while I was there so really they can be honorary gasheads. They said they would rather be called a gashead than a ****head! That kind of swayed their decision where I forced them to pick a side :)

While I was out and about though, I didnt see any other club tops being worn but I think I met a city fan as someone said "oh no, not a gashead" as they walked passed!

Those Americans for starters call it soccer
    Soccer?
Mind you went with the other half to watch 49ers vs Giants when we were there in November.
    4 quarter,what's that all about.lol
Then again $316 for two tickets,I'm glad you could have a alcoholic drink at your seat. Segregation.....a big no.
Great banter from both sides even thou they were sat next to each other.
    Never happen in the uk.

Hope you went down the new town.
Absolute mental from Thursday night until Sunday then calmed down again.
Wild and co and Route 66 were are main bars this time round.
    We flew back Monday night.
Two and a half hours away can't be bad for all that sunshine and cheap beer.

Dont worry, I corrected them that is not called soccer but its called football. I reasoned with them that they call all other sports in England by the right name, so not football? Why change it to soccer. I said they should change their "football" to "handball" because their sport is used with their hands or call it "American rugby".

I corrected them on many things like chips are chips - not crisps!!! I think I did well <ok>

    Very true Gasheadseamge79
Anyone under the age of 50 will not know this as it has not been used in this country for 4 decades.
They say you learn something new everyday
    I'm still sticking to football
Don't get me started on the Aussies

I walked into a Deli a couple of years back in a sleepy little Western Australian coastal hamlet with a Rovers Polo on and the proprieter immediately called out to me "Olroight Mate, Bristol Rovers, English 'Footy' Team, Up The Gas" ! He was a fifth generation Aussie too but must of known something about the Lower Leagues , mind you, WA is like Britain in the Indian Ocean these days so he probably picked it up from all those plastic Aussies out there.
