Shocking news that Gary Speed has been found dead at the age of 42 this morning. A huge loss not only to his family but to football as a whole.

It puts our current woes into perspective and our thoughts should go to his nearest and dearest at this terrible time.

    May he rest in peace

Shocking news, can't understand how if he was found hanging as reports suggest it is not suspicious unless he was going through some serious personal issues out of football.

Big blow for Welsh football just as they looked like they were on the up.

    RIP Gary Speed

Sad news for British football, it does indeed put things into perspective especially when one considers how he was found. I hope he has found peace.

A sad day in football. He looked like he was destined to do something special with Wales over the next couple of years. A huge shock when I read about it this morning.
    RIP Gary Speed <rose>

One of the most unexpected and shocking stories in a long time.
We all know footballers can have a uneven balance when it comes to behaviour but Gary Speed always seems to have been one of the games true professionals and nice guys. In my eyes he comes from the same mould as Sir Bob. A gentleman of the pitch with a good knowledge of the game and the right spirit and there were signs that the future looked very promising
A sad loss and my thoughts are with all that knew him.
