From Sunderland Echo online http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/sunderland-afc/safc-news/gary_rowell_quinn_exit_is_a_blow_to_sunderland_1_4271303 He sounds as sad as the rest of us about Quinn leaving.
I don't know why he didn't stay until at least the summer to see out his final season instead of leaving out of the blue. Perhaps he wasn't entirely happy with his new role in the club and wanted out sooner rather than later.
Now the shock of Quinny leaving has started to die down I can't help thinking there is a rabbit away here. Why leave in February? The seasons end is only three months away with two possible visits to Wembley coming up, flying in the league. It just doesn't add up. Watching Niall in the stands it's obvious the love he has for Sunderland...Why leave when in the next three months it's just possible we could not only achieve major silver-where but also our highest league position in decades?
I think that is probably the only troubling thing about him leaving at this time. I suspected when he stepped down as chairman that his new role was really just a way for him to work his notice. SAFC also appointed Mike Farnan as International and National Marketing Director in October and it was obvious the two roles overlapped. So I guess he must have his reasons for going now, and we have to respect that, after all he has done for SAFC. My guess is that we will see him often at the SoL. He said it himself, the club is under his skin. He won't be able to stay away for long.
He left now because he has a new business venture taking off in Ireland and he has to dedicate this time to it, it's no massive conspiracy ha ha, the time is just right for him
