http://www.ftbpro.com/posts/crippy....d-by-queens-park-rangers?team=QPR&ref=twitter English midfielder Gary OâNeill is reportedly the subject of interest for newly-relegated Championship Queens Park Rangers. The 30-year old was released by West Ham United this summer and is subsequently looking for a new club. Manager Sam Allardyce revealed he couldnât promise him regular first-team football next season, and his contract wasnât extended. Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp managed OâNeill during his time at Portsmouth, and regards the midfielder as potentially a good addition to a side looking to achieve promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. No official bid has been made for the 30-year old, but Rangers are expected to step up their interest. In his last season at West Ham United, he made 24 Premier League appearances, scoring just the once. In addition to the Hammers, OâNeill has also played for Portsmouth, Walsall, Cardiff City, and Middlesbrough. His career total stands at 290 appearances. The midfielder is keen to have the chance to work with his former employer, Harry Redknapp, and would consider any offer put to him. His vast amounts of Premier League experience is invaluable to Rangers, and his wage demands are a lot more modest than a number of midfielders they currently have on the books.
Good player and a good pro is O'Neill. I agree on the age concern, but if half the battle is getting in players with the right attitude, then better the devil Redknapp knows.
