It's only Italian(!), but nice to get some recognition: http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/...hooper-wins-goal-of-the-week-for-all-of-europ
Thanks Rob, I've sent it to my friend in Genoa who now follows the Canaries. I'm tracking Genoa's games in return!
It will be interesting to see if Hooper starts to get mentioned, with conviction, in the National press as a candidate for Brazil. Howson might go there for a holiday, he seems a million miles away to me. In fact I don't think he'd be in my starting 11 for Norwich when everyone is fit and we play two up front.
Really??? One of the first names on the team sheet for me, and I'm sure our manager would say the same thing. Definitely a strong contender for player of the season, I think he's awesome. I agree there is very little chance of a place on the flight to Rio however, far too much competition in the centre of midfield with Gerrard, Lampard, Carrick, Wilshere, Barkley, Lallana, Henderson surely all ahead of him in the pecking order at the moment.
For most of last season I would have probably agreed with you, but he has always had talent, this season he has really come on playing alongside someone of Fer's quality. Personally I would much rather see him and Lallana turn out for England than Cleverley or Henderson.
i've seen hoopers name mentioned in the national press in relation to brazil, if he keeps on scoring. although Roy has already come out and said he pretty much has his squad now. you never know if he gets 10+ goals this season
I agree he's improved considerably, and is playing well. he has been given freedom playing alongside Fer and gets into much better attacking positions, but for me the amount of chances he creates is really limited. I think he'll only get better
I have to say I think (the much-maligned) Henderson has looked very good this season - still not quite the £18m odd that they paid for him, but starting to see why they did. Rodgers has him firing.
I've been impressed with Henderson too this season, and Cleverley is developing, but hasn't had a great season, misses carrick
I think Cleverley is incredibly ordinary, but I've always rated Henderson - people forget how impressive he was at Sunderland that prompted Liverpool to pay so much for him. Ok, £18m was way over the odds (like much of Liverpool's business around that period) but for people to say he's a bad player or even a crap one is just plain wrong if you ask me.
Cleverley is a truly ghastly player, most United fans I know agree with me on that too. Henderson is a bit hit or miss for me he can play brilliantly then be an absolutely donkey the next game. Of late though Barkley deserves to get in the team his been quality for Everton and has that sheer determination that a lot of players lack. Howson should get a call up, the one problem he'll have is his not one of those players who stands out enough, he does the subtle things that unfortunately a lot of people don't notice, he links things together and keeps things neat, we don't have a natural playmaker and you can't expect defensive midfielders like Tettey to hit Hollywood passes etc, Howson brings out the best in these players as his always tracking back to give them passing options.
On talksport (yes I know) they mentioned at least 15 midfielders who would be ahead of howson. Basically it was laughed off pretty much
I think Howson's really picked up his game towards the end of last season and he has carried that over into this one. He looks far more confident on the ball and seems to be getting stuck in more. My main criticism of him last year was how easy it was for opposition midfielders to just brush him off the ball. He keeps improving and even playing in a more reserved role alongside Johnson in the last few games, he seems to be flourishing. As for Hooper, if he keeps scoring then he'd surely be in with a shout. I think it's only Rooney and Sturridge who have scored more, Welbeck has scored the same amount. And Hooper has spent half the games this season injured!
