Wow!! Not gutted- just didn't work for him here. He's been linked with a few Championship teams, but guessing they didn't want to pay a fee so the club are cutting losses?
I doubt we have paid up his entire contract .... hopefully just made him a offer of say 6 months wages for him to pack his bags Both sides would appear to be "happy" with this as are the fans please log in to view this image
Comes from someone I know at the club so I'm unable to post any website links etc .. sorry please log in to view this image He was effectively told he would be 4th choice ... even though the guys in front of him in the pecking order were all out of contract (Dailly, Llera, Fortune/Semedo)
good because he is toss. im sorry,,,i dont care about his 1 in 20 heroic performances. i care about the fact that he gets done like a kipper week in week out. liability.
It just hasn't worked out for him at our place. Doesn't make him a bad player though to be fair to him...!! After all he was influential to Norwich's promotion the year before last. A change of club is what he needs... Very similar to the Hayes situation.
sorry...carry...on " player`s fundamentals....and dohertys are woeful. he is terrible in a one on one situation...and you cant protect him to the level he needs. his positioning wasnt up to the standard i expected either. who played alongside him at norwich? could it be a case that their team was so above the opposition that season that they let him get away with it to some extent?
He was massively rated in his last season at Norwich, then played poorly at our place. Not going to say he became a bad player over one season, perhaps just one of those things. Good luck to Gary- tried his best every time so won't knock him. We can do better than him, and am also glad that the manager/board have seen that.
yeah i guess that is fair. im still a bit disappointed though as i thought his rashness to dive in, when he clearly couldnt hope to succeed, showed a bit of a stinky attitude...laissez faire
We'll all agree that it's best for everyone he moves on. Quite excited as it means it will be a completely new defence, with exception to Solly. Exactly what I was hoping for!
god imagine this team over a season 1. Worner 2. Francis 3. Solly at LB! 4. doherty 5. fortune 6. mccormack 8. racon (would be worst CM combo ever) 7. reid 11. wagstaff (week in week out cant cut it - not yet anyways) 10 abbott 11. benson relegated on 17 points
"He was effectively told he would be 4th choice ... even though the guys in front of him in the pecking order were all out of contract (Dailly, Llera, Fortune/Semedo)" To be told you are 4th choice behind 3 guys who are leaving just about sums him up for me. Great news
My uncle's mate is a Norwich season ticket holder... That's where I got it from. I agree he has his limitations but with the right defensve partner his "head on a stick" ability can be very useful indeed. For me our defense and midfield was an absolute shambles last season and given that it was Doc's first season with us, I really don't think that helped him bed in. In a nut shell I'm not too dissappointed to see the back of him, but I am a little worried where his departure leaves us (no proven CB with experience on the books). From day one I stated I was worried about this coming campaign if we fail to purchase at least two quality League One level CB's... My convictions have not changed.
