In his team of the week he included Jack Wilshere. This is the entirety of what he said under Jack Wilshere: "When is Arsene Wenger going to wake up and smell the coffee? He's got serious internationals in his side with much more experience but far less fight than Jack Wilshere. The England international is the only real leader they've got and if Wenger doesn't give this lad the support his talent deserves then he will be off like Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie. And it will serve him right." What gives him the right to say that? Would he have heard of Wilshere if it wasnt for Wenger? Im no member of the Arsene Knows brigade but the man deserves a little more respect. Arsene Wenger has more football wisdom in his left toe nail than this pathetic excuse of a football pundit/journalist has in his entire body....seriously Garth Crooks is not fit to lick Arsene Wengers boots and yet he is allowed to talk like that....courtesy of our license fee. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21565228
Didn't he play for Spurs? So in his mind, Wenger's decisions should be raiding the transfer market to give Jack Wilshere what he 'deserves' and not what the Arsenal fans deserve? He should be doing it all for Wilshere FC ay Crooks
last couple of games, i've seen Wilshire looking round for support from the other players.the MOTD pundit's have highlighted it too
It's no coincidence that two of the biggest idiots in football commentating are Spuds - Garth Crooks and David Pleat. I mean, they're both quite clearly idiots. How they're paid to share their opinion is a mystery.
Crooks is a Spurs fan, hates Arsenal and Chelsea. Claims his hatred of Arsenal stretches back to a cup semi loss against them as a Stoke player.
Whereas Lee Dixon and Alan Smith have great insight? Pleat knows what he is talking about, Crooks is a little strange and over emotional though.
And Merson Garth Crooks is a bit of an idiot but it's for that reason he fits in well with the rest of the Beeb's pundits.
Lee Dixon is a great pundit, Alan Smith is an absolute tool and Merson is a Chelsea fan. The biggest idiots on TV are comfortably (ex) Liverpool.
Was about to say... Lee Dixon is well-respected. Crooks and Pleat aren't at all. I've never read an insightful thought from them. EDIT: Next time Pleat is commentating, actually listen to what he says. It's never anything useful, usually obvious stuff like their nationality or position. Whenever he'd talk about Modric, he'd always say 'the Croatian is on the ball'. He only ever describes what is happening, never talking about tactics. Plus he absolutely butchers the pronunciation of foreign players.
theres one commentator who consistently says "wiltshire". not quite sure who, but theres a few commentators who can't get even the english names right, let alone the foreign ones
Merson's the worst on pronunciation. They intentionally set him up on SSN. He's a fan of Gabby Abongalor, apparently.
My favourite 'Pleatism' is Pascal Chimbomba, always made me laugh. Garth Crooks is an absolute plum, ex spurs or not. He talks absolute ****e. Andy Townsend is another one I can't stand
Merson is just as bad as Pleat, examples from your current team he says Cazola instead of Cazorla, and Sagna as it is spelt instead of 'Sanya'. Crooks is not that pro-Tottenham, he rarely picks Spurs players in his teams of the week.
Also as far as BBC pundits go Spurs have done pretty well. Lineker is the only MOTD pundit with half a brain cell. The Hansen Lawro combo is by far the most embarrassing.
