Gareth Bale has branded Charlie Adam a coward after being sidelined for a second time by the Liverpool and Scotland midfielder He brought Bale's 2010-11 season to a premature end with a lunge and the Scotsman was guilty of a similar challenge during the Liverpool-Spurs match in Baltimore, USA. "What he did was over the top," Bale insisted. "Some people are like that and it's just wrong. "There are pictures on the internet of what he did before when he snapped all my ankle ligaments. I was out for three months that time. He's come for me twice now - and he's got me twice. "When someone makes a very bad tackle on you, you expect an apology. I've had no apology. And I'm not going to accept his apology." I know Adam has a poor discipinary record but I think Gareth has gone a bot overboard. Bad tackles happen and are surely just part and parcel of a modernn fast moving game. This should have been dealt with behind closed doors not through the press. Views?
He expects an apology but he's not going to accept it? Isn't that like asking to borrow a fiver then saying 'I don't need this' and throwing it back in your mates face?
It was an incredibly stupid tackle...from behind, never had any chance of getting the ball, not that it mattered given that it's a friendly.
Will be interesting to see if he fits in at all next season or whether he is part of the post Dalglish purge...
What`s it got to do with where Adam comes from ?. Let the officials referee the game - they didn`t evidently see too much wrong. I`m sorry if Bale has been injured, but why should he be given any special protection, as was suggested by one of his team-mates. There are processes in place for retrospectively dealing with these situations, if indeed there is any situation to deal with. Talking of injuries, I thought he`d pulled out of the Olympics because of injury ? - maybe he should man up and get on with it. Of course this puts pressure on the referee for the next Liverpool-Spurs game - nice one !
Surprised there hasn't been more of a fuss made about that tbh. Would have thought he'd have been honoured to be picked and played in an Olympic Games.
I can imagine his frustration. He doesn't want to spend half his career injured, but there are certain players who appear to be seeking to make that happen. They can't play against him, so they try to hurt him. You can't just call it part of the modern game when the intention is clearly just to take him out, especially when it's a friendly.
Apparently, he was truly honoured to play in the Olympics. However, he was injured and that ruled him out. Team GB had to be announced, which meant that he couldn't go even if he was then fit. Of course, then his fitness returned faster than his doctor's prognosis suggested. I suspect, in this case, that it wasn't Bale who wanted to be left out, but Spurs who didn't want their prize player to be injured while away on International duty. Incidentally though, so am I.
Spot on. Bale really wanted to be in the GB squad (he pissed off the Welsh FA something awful posing in the kit when it was released). In fact, he picked up his injury training during his holiday so he would be fit. If somebody overstated his injury so he wasn't picked, you can bet your house that it wasn't Bale.
If he really wanted to go he would have got a second opinion on that injury. I think someone at spurs got at him.
Hence my opinion. The medical team are paid by Spurs. Their instructions from above are always going to make them give out cautious advice to a player if he's playing his football temporarily elsewhere. On the original fouling subject. I have no opinion at all. Handbags as far as I'm concerned.
