Keep him if he'll sign a one year contract and take a wage cut. But lets not forget every time he played in his own position he was diabolical. He's a 442 midfielder playing in a time where 442 is pretty ineffective against a structured 5 man midfield, He's had over two years to adapt to a 5 man midfield and he's failed, looking out of his depth every time he's been there. I want more than a good shot and 'doing a job' at full back for his wages. Just me personally I'm sure but I think He, like Vaughan, just can't adapt to the modern game. If that's not it, I'd like to the reason why he hasn't had a decent game in midfield for seasons.
i think he offers a lot to the club. we should be looking to keep our better players not sell everyone
Agree with the majority view on here. He's very solid and the sort of player who is very handy to have in the squad. Granted that the wage bill might need trimming, but otherwise keep him.
I'm happy to keep him for cover but he's going to be one of our highest earners. We bought him in an era where both Bardsley and Bramble were given 30k a week contracts. He'll be on more than Giaccherini mark my words. When did gardener last pull on an England shirt or do anything to justify his wage packet? I'd love to keep him but he has to be a casualty of a time we threw silly money at average players. We need him off the wage bill imo.
