Hope he turns out to be solid, reports on the Everton forums describe him as fast good going forward needs to work on defence, also great cross and dead ball taker. Brilliant that we now have a left back, Stafy was not quite as good as I had hoped last season so hopefully this is a step up.
I'm assuming Everton are looking at a similar path to the one Bamford has taken - if Garbutt does well with us this season, he'll be loaned to a Premier League team next year (hopefully us!) before coming back to compete with the then 32 year old Leighton Baines.
Having him and Ross over every set piece is promising. A genuine goal threat from a left or a right footer gives the keeper something to think about.
Given the Baines situation, but for his own injury good chance that Luke could have had an immediate recall by Everton. However if Baines does have to have surgery could still happen. Should we be anticipating the worst and go now for another LB - even as a short term loan?
I see James Husband didn't feature in Middlesbrough's match day squad today. It still makes sense to get him. I think we're fine at RB with Jazz, Grimmer, Voser and Donnelly.
