Now that Linekar's been dropped by Walkers crisp do you think that the garbage they put out on BBC1 on Sat night might improve. I however very doubt it. The Liverpool vs Sundrland coverage was dire. All liverpool except for our goal - typical. If i had sky i would ask for a refund on my TV licence.

I just dont watch MOTD, but even if you had sky, you have a TV, and even if you didnt, you have a PC and internet, so you cant get out of paying the TV Licence im afraid, you dont even have to watch BBC1, as long as you have a TV/PC with internet connection, you have to pay it, which is, bloody silly.

PC only and you have to pay license fee? When did they decide that?

Ah just check and if it is live you have to pay. Catch up or download fine.

Continuing on.... The beeb says funded by license fee and that is how it is so "independant" and "unbiased". However, if you log on to beeb site abroad or watch one of the international channels there are adverts a-plenty. How much longer do we have to subsidise this white elephant before we get some competition going? Barring the odd documentary (and how many years will Attenborough last?) the quality of the writing and presenting is going down hill fast. Bloody DIY SOS.... The one show, Eastenders.... not a scrap of talent between the lot of them but they pay 7 figures to bloody norton, I'm gay you know, really, fascinating fancy trying to be funny and entertaining for your cash once in a while??????? I reckon a protest is needed but am too lazy to start it!!!!

I love some of the idiocy when people disagree with the BBC "I didnt agree with that one thing they did so I shouldnt have to pay my licence fee!". Think it should be tailor made to cater for their tastes, and their tastes only.

The BBC is a public service, and its aim is to -try- represent society, and cater to all tastes. In all reality, there are more Liverpool fans than Sunderland fans, they are always going to favour the Scousers. Be grateful you have such a good service as the BBC, very few countries have such high quality TV/Internet output publicly funded.

Fair enough. but i never watch the BBC, actually thats a lie, only thing i do watch is the F1 sometimes on the net from them, but next season i wont even be able to do that for most of the races. (I dont even listen to the radio)

I dont want it tailor made for me, I just dont watch it, because i know what its going to be like (MOTD that is) its the same every week, and its never going to change until we get top 4 season after season.

I agree though , there is plenty of utter ****e on it, just that if spending half the year in Australia with my family has taught me one thing, that we really do have it good when it comes to quality TV.

Blackcatsteve, you say publicly fund, and yes i will agree, but if you think that the public get value for money, then I have to disagree. The amount of money paid to some of the tossers who appear on the channel beggars belief. The sooner the BBC goes commercial the better for everyone. As an ex pat I also like my Test cricket, but more often than not, some of the content is not available on the computer because I dont reside in the UK. As far as im concerned the BBc is total bollocks. Rant over, have a nice day.:emoticon-0150-hands

I am with Virgin and the red button doesnt work on sky channels, it does on BBC just not any sky ones :( so i have to watch whatever one they want to show, which is usually none in all honesty, i usually watch the spanish football or NFL if its on a Sunday.

Why is this day and age do i have to pay for a tv licence - i don't have to pay for a phone licence, a computer licence or a mp3 player licence so why a TV. If i'm paying for it then i should get a say!!!

The BBC is becoming MINORITY TV for the MASSES.

My main grievance with the BBC is their claim that they are "funded in a unique way that allow for such fantastic quality programming". This is nothing sort of a lie. They have revenue streams from advertising and not just from web sites and foreign versions of the channels. Everyone must remember when the entire population of walford switched from becks to bud overnight, yet they continue to obscure a bottle of fairy on blue peter to maintain the charade that they aren't making cash hand over fist. From wiki "Total levies from the licence fee were £3.45 billion in 2009–10[2] of which £556 million or 16% was provided by the Government through concessions for those over the age of 75". This is a hangover from a more socialist time in this country and I for one am sick of getting executives rich with the onus on them to produce value for that investment seeming sinking lower and lower each year. I believe the BBC do do some good stuff but it is getting increasingly harder to find and I think they should be made to stand on their own 2 feet now. I'm sure the schools, hospitals or pension fund could do with 3.5 billion a year.

Really that is not how I read it. I read if you watch live stuff you need to pay. Although I suppose all the sport on the BBC website is live so they will argue, prove you didn't watch it. I would say it is up to them to prove you did. It is a scam.

The important thing about Lineker leaving is.............

Will Walkers ****ty crisps taste better?
Oh! And will you get more than 6 or 7 crisps in a bag?

Anyone remember the old Smith's crisps, difficult to open the bag without spilling some out, as they were so full.
Then losing a couple of more as you raked about for the blue twist of salt. :) LUXURY!
