I see that Swansea have pumped three goals past the poster team WBA (now 3-1), with Routledge picking up two of them - we should have hung onto him when we had the opportunity. Saints are 1-0 up against Norwich (now 1-1) and if that result holds out this will be 3 wins on the trot for them, pulling them even further out of the relegation zone, where we are currently mired.
He never gave the impression that he wanted to stay. He was as key to our promotion as anyone in the second half of that year though.
He did want to stay. I saw him at Cheltenham races this year and asked him why he didn't sign and his response was Briatore was being a knob.
Last season the teams at the top consistently beat every other team. And no team at the bottom really pulled away. This season, teams are beating each other and it's a lot more even, except us....we're getting stranded as a result which is p***ing me right off.
Stoke certainly know how to pull a game out the fire, now 2-1 up against Newcastle. At least Saints/Norwich still tied late on and Wigan losing at home to Man City. Not in our mix, but Fulham doing a great job at Chelsea, still 0-0.
I think the results tonight are generally oknewcastle and Stoke would probably have been better a draw but if everyone keeps taking points off each other as mentioned above we just need a decent run.
It was a decent midweek for us, with a long trip oop norf, we dropped 2 points on Villa and gained a point on Reading and Wigan Win Saturday and we should gain 3 points on Saints, Wigan, Reading and at least 2 on Sunderland/Norwich.
Yes, but a decent run of wins and 3 pointers - we've had enough draws from games we should/could have won. Sunderland were there for the taking last night - that would have been the way to kick start our rise from the depths, as Martin O'Neill did with Sunderland last season.
We need to start taking the chances we are getting or it could be as good as over before we even get to Jan window. The lack of goals, quality strikers is a big,big worry
