First time post...long time getting here from BBC 606 sign although I have read posts here for a long time!
Anyways....watched the game, thought in the first half we looked lively, creative to a degree, wonderful debut goal for cisse and looking quite dominant. Second half...well we couldn't give the ball away enough, looked like we run out of ideas and that no one wanted the ball, no real attacking force and on the back foot.
And what is it with hulse starting? I would rather Angelo played, I really don't get how this guy has snuck back into the squad.
    What is everyone's thoughts?

I think last night showed exactly why we need a really solid DM or enforcer. I hope that this new signing Diakite is good enough. Derry's legs have gone and i really think that he is now only capable of coming on for a final 30 mins to help plug a gap. Great honest bloke but i think we got him 2-3 years too late. Villa played to our weakness last night. keane dropped into the hole last night and pulled all the strings from there. Petrov and Ireland also made several runs right through the heart of our midfield. Derry could not cover the ground and Barton seems to be playing in a skirt. He seems to have lost the aggression he once had, and no longer puts in the bone crunchers. IMHO we are very very vunerable in the middle of the pitch. This new Diakite will hopefully add a bit of bite to our midfield and stop teams walking through us.

Couldn't agree more, we were simply overrun in midfield last night.

Over run... Was equally as bad a half as when we played as away ay Swansea with Iain dowie
Hopefully cisse knocks more in than we concede

It's all be sorted out for saturday when Taarabt,Traore and Buzsacky are back and Zamora in upfront with Cisse. We hopefully dont need Derry ,Mackie and Hulse again.

I do like Mackie, but he's so frustrating to watch...pace but no touchskill or imagination to do anything with the ball but run to The corner and lose the ball.

not going to be too harsh because we had 3 debuts and people need time to fit in.

i thought we took 2 steps forward and 2 steps back.
last week our problem was not scoring but our defence seemed to be okay.
last night we went 2 up and then let 2 in?

Villa are a good team but are lacking something under their new manager and i was hoping that being 2-0 up we could have won the game but the old Rangers came into play and we let it slip.

A point at Villa is good but when you are 2 up and fighting for survival you need to hang on because we cannot rely on the other teams losing all the time.

We need 3 points at home to Wolves on Saturday and it really is a must win game.

I keep saying this....the new players will need some time to gel!! Taiwo looked well off the pace, but I'm hoping he'll come good. Cisse will get goals, no doubt and Omouha looks a good defender. They need time to play as a team. It's just unfortunate that the next few games are the ones we really need to get points from!!
