Gael Bigirimana

I have seen that we are being heavily linked with this lad from Coventry. Think he is a midfielder and won the Championship Apprentice of the year. Other than that I don't know much about him. Anybody seen him play and if so would he be a good signing?

 

Was that the lad who featured in a BBC article where it said he started playing football at like 11 and made the Youth team at Coventry shortly after, having begged for a trial?

If so, he's apparently quick...

Don't know a lot about him, if he is going to be decent, nothing wrong with buying him and loaning him straight back to Coventry.

 

This...I'm also always wary of relations between our club and the clubs who's talent we've 'poached' ... This could certainly sweeten the deal for them!

Just read that article and comments beneath, it seems the Coventry fans call him Bigi - this makes me like him even more, for the purely simple, slightly ridiculous reason that we could potentially have tupac and bigi playing for us one day!

 

Plus it means he will get a year of guaranteed first team football, never understood why Powell wasn't loaned straight back to Crewe, yet will probably end up on loan at another League One club.

 

This...He still sounds very raw and would get nout from sitting in our reserves (I suppose European football is an option but I'd expect Gosling, Vuckic, Amalfitano and Abeid to be ahead of him in the pecking order, AND Brad Inman has recently signed a new senior contract and would probably be wanting to push through!

Wasn't this the kid that turned up at Coventry's training ground begging for a trial to be told he needed to get spotted by one of their scouts playing for a local team. He was then spotted by a coach running away from the training ground who was impressed with his pace and energy and brought him back for a trial?

 

Yep, and Bigi (yeah, we're on nickname terms already) said he was only jogging at the time!

 

I listened to Dario Gradi on this subject (I was thinking the same thing about Powell) and he made a lot of sense. It is more to do with a very positive aspect of their club in that they feel they have good youngsters coming through and they want to give them a chance. They are very accepting of the top youngsters getting creamed off, they are just realistic about football. Its just a shame mmore clubs in this country don't have these kind of policies instead of getting the cheque book out. The national team would certainly benefit if they did.

With the Coventry lad I couldn't honestly say I've seen him but its good we're looking around the lower divisions over here despite the premiums

 

Live down here near Coventry. This lad is a very good prospect and I would defo loan him out for further league experience. I see our future is bright, not Orange but Black & White.

 

I believe that there are plans to make a "GOAL" type movie of his extraordinary life.

Hi lads, devastated Coventry fan here. I went to school with Gael, he is one of the most level headed and naturally talented guys you will ever meet. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that by this time next year he will be challenging for a starting place in your 1st team. For those of you wanting to know what kind of player he is, he is a defensive midfielder who has got pace, subliminal passing qualities and a great shot........hope you enjoy having this talent on your books as he will be one of the best CMs in the prem before he turns 25.

 

if he reacts to Derby wins like that we're gonna be seeing a lot more celebrations like that
