https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaëtan_Bussmann Gaëtan Bussmann (born 2 February 1991 in Épinal) is a French professional footballer currently plays for Championnat National side Metz. He plays as a left back and is also capable of playing in the centre of defence. Bussmann is a French youth international and has represented his nation at under-18 and under-19 level. He was a part of the team that won the 2010 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship on home soil. Bussmann began his career at hometown club SAS Épinal and joined Metz in 2004 at the age of 13. While in the club's youth academy, he won the 2009–10 Coupe Gambardella after the club's under-19 team defeated Sochaux 5–4 on penalties in the final.[1] On 4 June 2010, Bussmann signed his first professional contract agreeing to a five-year deal with Metz until June 2015.[2] He made his professional debut on 20 August 2010 in a league match against Vannes starting in the left back position.
There's a lot of talented players in the French leagues, and I think with the rise of PSG and Monaco using foreign talent to bolster their teams we'll be seeing a lot of Championship teams raiding the French leagues. A brief look into their second division shows a number of players that could do a decent job over here. Bussman is rated at £1.4m by a lot of stat sites, so if we get him for under a million I reckon we've done well. My only worry is that he's coming from a side that went down, and if we've not done our research we might find that we have bought one of the reasons they went down.
Bristol City FC Supporters PageUpdate on this deal.. city are actually in talks with the French side, a deal is thought it be around £1.4 million, but nothing agreed yet.
...With a grand total of two (if this comes to pass)? It's like 1066 all over again! Somewhat ironically, I've signed Monsieur Bussman for City on Football Manager and remember that he was described as a left-back by them, so don't know if he would be used as part of our back three or as wing-back (although hard to see anyone displace Joe Bryan). If my FM experience is anything to go by then he'll be a good servant for a few years, but will be sold on to Middlesbrough once we're in the Champions League .
