You are apparently closing in on the brilliantly nicknamed Gabigol for around £30m (Gabriel Barbosa - 19 year old Brazilian striker) http://metro.co.uk/2016/08/16/manch...or-gabriel-barbosa-in-next-48-hours-6070587/? We were after him but looks like he has been priced out - he is currently playing for Brazil in the Olympics and has been impressive after a slow start.
Cos Gabigol usually plays as a winger or number 10 rather than an out and out goalscorer. Rashford is more the long term replacement for Zlatan imo, whereas Gabigol could be the long term replacement for Rooney.
He actually plays more as a striker and can cut from right side to left. I would have thought that Pogba would be the natural No. 10 given that was the role he played at Juve. We are flushed with quality players up front, I think.
Gabigol? For Santos he always plays behind Oliveira. More a number ten than a nine, although could possibly play as a 'false nine' if we ever need such bollocks in our side. But he's probably too short to be an out and out striker in the PL. Pogba didn't really play number 10 at Juve either - he was more withdrawn, more akin to the attacking point of a three man midfield alongside Marchisio and Khedira / Sturado. More likely to be in a midfield three with Carrick / Schneiderlin and Herrera / Fellaini for us imo. Although if that is the plan and we start playing three in CM then then Gabigol might end up as a 'false nine' alternative to Zlatan, with Rashford and Martial becoming the wide attackers. That'd be a fairly big switch in formation tho', and as we saw with three at a back under LVG it might fail to bed in.
You chose the wrong name. I would have any player with the name Barbosa He sounds like a mafia hitman, a bit like Luca Brazi from Godfather. I think we should make him an offer he can't refuse.
I'm just quoting the article that calls him that. My first thought with Barbossa was the zombie pirate in Pirates of the Caribbean. That is where his nickname comes from - gol is goal in Portuguese.
If he is indeed classed as No. 10, then how many of them can we hold at the club. Mata can play there, then Rooney and Myki. Don't see the need for another spending in that area.
Can never have too many No 10's, we need them as wingers. It's become a tradition going back to Rooney and followed by Kagawa, Januzaj, Mata and now the mighty Barbarosa.
