Right, this is a rant because I've had it up to here with those money grabbing ****s G&S trying to move my Club into that Olympiss ****hole and then selling off our assets. It emerged this morning that West Ham United would have to make way for any major athletics event should the Club become Tenants. MAKE WAY FOR ATHLETICS. ARE THEY TAKING THE ****ING PISS? Athletics would also be given a 99 year lease with the running track GUARANTEED to stay in place. And all this announced 3 days before the vote to decide who stages the 2017 World Athletics Championship. FOR ****'S SAKE. Most Irons DO NOT WANT TO MOVE, as a Season Ticket holder I haven't even been asked by the owners. They obviously know what the answer would be. To have to watch football in that sterile dump, with binoculars, separated from the pich by over 100 feet, (at the shortest point), would be soul destroying. With the best will in the world, we are a middle sized Club. We won't fill that place and away fans won't come twice. G&S want to make us Tenants, sell off the Boleyn and make a ****load of cash. Within 10 years my Club will cease to exist. Develop the East Stand, fill in one of the corners and bring our capacity up to 45,000. That'll suit us lovely. Why is everything always about the ****ing money? And they say they're fans.
Yes, I agree with your sentiments without being fully aware of the situation. I spent some time in Hamburg when they were at the old Volkspark Stadion. It had the athletics thing around it & the atmosphere was ****e. When they moved to the AOL Arena it was totally different. When we built a new ground I never regretted the move as much as I loved Roker Park. The SOL was built purely as a football stadium & I don't think you can combine the two TBH. I wouldn't trust Gold & Sullivan to walk my dog TBH or that bitch Brady, is she still with them? However, I very much doubt West Ham would ever fold.
Thanks for the sensible comments. I remember a freezing day in 77, I'm sure it was february or march when we came up to Roker Park and got thrashed 6-0. I never went back!! Football has to be played in a ground built just for it, not over an athletics track. G&S are a pair of money grabbing ****s and that **** Brady makes me puke, and yes she's still there. I'd like to think my Club won't fold but because it's all about the money now, if we get moved, no-one will want to own us as we wouldn't be bringing in said money. What Club would sell the ground that it owns outright to become tenants?
