Neil Warnock insists the signings of Joey Barton and Luke Young are just the start of a QPR revolution under new owner Tony Fernandes.

Barton watched from the directors' box at the DW Stadium yesterday lunchtime as his new club were beaten by two Franco Di Santo goals for Wigan.

And with Young's arrival from Aston Villa also confirmed, Warnock hailed the impact of Fernandes and said he expected up to four more new faces before deadline day.

Warnock said: "It's really exciting to know we're going to supplement our squad with five or six new players because we're going to need them.

"I've been speaking to him (Fernandes) most evenings and he's just been fantastic. I've never had that sort of support anywhere. I've come up with the names and he's said 'go for it'."

Although Warnock refused to reveal any of his imminent targets, Manchester City's Shaun Wright-Phillips is believed to be high on the Loftus Road wanted list.

Warnock felt his side were hard done by against Roberto Martinez's Latics, who triumphed thanks to two fine if slightly deflected finishes by Di Santo.

Adel Taarabt thundered two shots against the post in a bright and exciting game for which the major difference was the home side's returning Colombian Hugo Rodallega.

Starting his first Barclays Premier League match of the season since his return from the Copa America, Rodallega was at the centre of almost everything his attacking side produced.

Martinez said: "Hugo's got an experience and an arrogance and he knows he can score goals. He's really sharp and his experience and know-how is important on and off the pitch."

Like Warnock, Martinez is also working on the addition of a handful of new faces while remaining "100%" certain no further players will leave the DW Stadium.

Martinez added: "When we lost Tom (Cleverly) and Charles (N'Zogbia) we wanted to find replacements and we worked really hard to bring those two or three in.

"I have a very clear idea of who I want to bring in. It is not just their football talent, it is their character and personality. But I won't just bring players for the sake of it."

Martinez was delighted with the way his side set about their visitors from the start, with Rodallega setting up Jordi Gomez to fire over the bar, then himself firing across goal.

In hailing his own side's commitment afterwards, Warnock suggested that had Taarabt found the net instead of the post on 14 minutes the result might have been different.

Patrick Agyemang fluffed the rebound and Rangers' best chance to take the lead went begging, with Di Santo slamming home his rising right-footed opener five minutes before the break.

Taarabt struck the post again in first-half injury-time with a long range free-kick, and after Gomez and Di Santo both came close, the Argentinian grabbed his second on 66.

Finding space on the edge of the box, Di Santo turned and hit a looping effort which took a fortunate deflection off Bruno Perone and dropped beyond Paddy Kenny.

The visitors refused to give up on the afternoon and came close when Perone connected with a Taarabt corner in the 75th minute to bring a fine save out of Ali Al Habsi.

Warnock added: "As far as how we've coped so far, we've got nothing to be afraid of. If you create as many chances as we did today, that's all you can do."

Such a shame the last owners have now limited us by not selling up quick enough, if only Tony a managers dream had come a long earlier. But thats QPR - never simple, always fun :)

It's like waiting for the FA verdict all over again....the next 3 says will go a long way towards securing our PL future. Its painful waiting for the day to arrive. Just imagine another 4 quality signings to go with Kenny, Young (ok, I'm now a fan), Barton, Taarabt, DJ and Bothroyd!!! We need them because I don't ever want to see Perone, Hall, Connolly or Dave play for us in the PL ever again. Sorry it sounds harsh but I'm only thinking of the club, and myself....
