    good evening buds

as we all know the engins regulations are changing for 2014 to 1.6 ltr V6 turbo units with improved more powerful KERS , on the long departed bbc 606 forum there was much wailing , blubbing , and general nashing of teeth concerning the new regulations ,

the general opinion was that the new engines would ruin F1 , they would slow the cars down by a significant amount , the loss of the V8 high pitch scream would also turn people away from F1 , and so on and so forth ,

now you all know me and know that i am not an argumentitive person but at the time i felt i had to give my polite and well reasoned reply to such opinions .
    ------- load of old boll***s

lets have it right the mid 80s units were 1.5 V6 turbo units and were the most powerful engines F1 will ever see and no F1 car since has matched the viscous power delivery or the straitline acceleration of those machines ,

and who can ever forget the glorious visual spectacle of the mighty williams honda"s , prost"s mclaren , senna"s black and gold JPS spitting huge gobs of flame from the tail pipes as they battled tooth and nail at 200 MPH , agreed the new units wont match the 5 bar boost of the 86 engines ,
-------- but turbo technology has moved on since 1986 and whatever happens the 2014 cars will still be the fastest things on the planet at just about any given race track on earth , so lets not write off the 2014 engines just yet an

as for the sound of the 2014 units , will it seriously make a scrap of difference to any of us and will any of us really notice the difference between the old V8 units as we sit in front of our ratty old 32" sony bravias or whatever ,
since when has anybody ever experianced the wonderful noise in all there glory of the current V8s sat in front of a goggle box --

i am quite looking forward to the new regulations as i believe the current rules regarding the V8 units are now making the sport a little predictable ,
    -- would welcome anybody"s thoughts --

Everyone will be outraged at how much they hate it at the first 2014 race and forget it ever changed by mid season. There is always this reaction to anything that changes.

Remember when the 2009 cars came out and all anyone could say is how much they wanted to be sick? Now 2008 cars look strange to me.

The sport will always change and evolve. However much people may get nostalgic.

Well I'm quite looking forward to the change, always go into these things with a open mind. Its like when i went from a high revving petrol to a tdi road car, was worried about the noise and response but I don't think I'll be going back any time soon.
