Bear with me here. I have done a few fundraising events for charitable causes over the years. Havent for a while and have been pondering something. I love this board and its posters as we feel like a great little village, which tolerates idiots like me I have been pondering putting on an an Am/Non-Am golf event for a while down here. So an amateur player paired with a non-player. I have an idea on how an event could be tremendous fun, and interesting to many. I wonder if we could do it in Sunderland though, and do it as a 606 event? Personally would love to do a little bit in the region of my birth. I know there are avid golfers on here so hoping between us we might have a go at organising something great. My idea is to tie it in with 1st home Saturday home game next season. Could we go to the match, have an evening event after, golf day on the Sunday PM (very conscious of sunday tournaments)? In my wildest dreams we could get SAFC involved, maybe a couple of players on the tee, Kyril as the starter . Loads to think about. I can do lots of leg work but would need SunderlanD based lads to help. Particularly golf members. I am really open to charitied to work for. Foundation of light? Sunderland soup kitchen? So just testing the boards interest really. Honestly think it could be brilliant fun, and raise a load of money...
I think I would have to count as a non player. Last round was over 130 and must be over 15 years ago! in fact my last round was the last paying round at Mount Oswald. The owners were the party behind us and they were taking out the flags putting them on their buggy after they finished each hole. If that is not too much of a non player I could be up for this.
I reckon it’s a great idea. Just don’t count me in as I find golf probably the most boring game ever.
Good way to return to the game mate. This wont be about golf ability. In fact I have a format in mind that punishes better players.
I'd probably be keen mate, used to play a fair bit (grew up near st Andrews so had to play) but hardly ever play these days Would be classed as a 'golfer' in the event tho
