Mrs A and myself are looking for ideas to mark our 30th anniversary next May. I know it's a bit early, but if you want to know something about anything, you ask on here first. We haven't totted up yet but I guess looking around 70-80 people. I would like it in the old town. I don't want the usual **** buffet/disco/karaoke type event, any thoughts? To be honest I'm a bit of an anti social old git and think I would rather just go away, However, in the spirit of what we are celebrating, it's her call.
Well askew your not making it easy for us with no disco or buffet so what about that laser gun place you could mix into teams and with it been your anniversary you could have first pick of who you want in your team or if you don't fancy that then above sailmakers pub they have a room which I would think holds around that amount, my mate is a bingo caller so he could help out and if anyone gets hungry they could nip around the corner to Eikcona take away and get a pizza. If I think of anything else I will let you know
Laser gun place? You're pushing it a bit there. A&E will have a busy night dealing with 70 odd back and hip problems.
I'll not be celebrating any more anniversaries, not when the missus realises I've eaten all the sweets she bought for trick or treaters...
Oops - you just reminded me. The electric motor on the portcullis has packed in. I'll need to fix/replace it before dusk otherwise all those begging kids will be swamping us again .
Cheers, I'll give the laser gun place a miss. As Bob says, NHS is in enough ****. We wondered about Sailmakers and are going to have a peek this weekend. I heard its not cheap though. I wondered about a band rather than disco (or laser guns). Also something like a Burger van rather than buffet, but it probably wouldn't work at that venue. Daughter did a hog roast at a do she put on, but Mrs A doesn't like them. Just want something a bit different but I guess that's gonna cost. I suspect I may be trying to persuade Mrs A to just go away instead.
Been to a couple of do's with this pizza van, it's quite good, particularly if people are getting pissed, they just keep churning them out (based in South Cave). As you say though, not really much use if you're hiring a room above a pub. please log in to view this image
They let you have a band! And they let you use Spotify! Can’t remember how much the actual room was though?
