Reading the news today it looks like Jose, Luke, Guly and Ramirez will all be fit for Newcastle. Will any of them start? Even Adam's struggling to get a start at the moment?

Why change something that isn't broken? Saying that though the only one I would maybe consider changing is bringing in Shaw.

This was more a general question, not a Newcastle question - so yes he can! (and I forgot about Nathaniel Clyne!)

I reckon his starting 11 will be:

    Boruc
    Clyne - Fonte - Forren - Shaw
    Cork - Schneiderlin
    Puncheon - Ramirez - Lallana
    Lambert

No Rodriguez? Hes been playing to well to be dropped!

Ramirez and Lallana will be on the bench.

I think it will be an unchanged side except for shaw.

So you think MP will drop 5 of the team that beat City? That's more than a bit harsh. I think the only starting change will be Shaw for Fox. Davis, Rodriguez, and the CB's deserve another game at least. Fox might even get another go as well.

I interpreted the thread as being about who the starting XI will be in the long-term, in general, not necessarily for the next game. Just re-read the OP, my bad. I agree though that with the current form, the likes of Yoshida, Davis, and Rodriguez, may start most games in the short-term.

If both Shaw and Fox are fully fit Shaw will start. On that note, any idea how badly injured Fox is?

Forren must now be fully fit and it will be interesting to see how he measures up to our other CBs. Fonte will have been out for almost 2 months and is unlikely to be fit enough to come straight back in. I think Hoover and Yoshi will continue for the Newcastle game at least.

Ramirez may be favored from the bench, particularly in away games, with his continued dead leg problem and the good form of Davis keeping him out. A very good attacking option to have from the bench.

Puncheon is the only real option on the right. But the left now see's a bit of a battle between JRod and Lallana. With Guly as a really good option from the bench across the midfield. For me, Lallana should start. I like to have the option of either JRod or Lambert from the bench.

It seems now to me, that the players that we really need to keep fit until the end of the season are Boruc, Cork, Morgan and Lambert. With a fully fit squad we do have some pretty good options, which we will need to utilize with Poch's all action tactics.

I think we will keep the same side as the one against City apart from Shaw coming in at LB. This gives us some great attacking options from the bench in Lallana and Ramirez.

    Boruc
    Clyne-Fonte-Yoshida-Shaw
    Puncheon-Cork-Schneiderlin-Lallana
    Ramirez-Lambert

Really tough (isn't that a lovely position to be in) but would put JRod and Davis on the bench (though neither deserve to be there) and bring them on for impact.

I have loads of opinions but I am going to let MoPo decide this time, after all, if he gets it wrong we can criticise him afterwards with full justification.

Winning team or not Lallana is the captain and probably our best player and should always start if you ask me, pretty sure the reason he was on the bench is an injury picked up in training that slowed down his quest for match fitness.

I would normally agree but the current five of Morgan, Cork, Davis, Rodriguez and Punch is doing so well that it seems pointless to change it. I love Lallana - and Ramirez too, at that - but I'd hate to risk how well they're playing currently. I'm certainly not normally one for "not done anything wrong so don't change it!" attitudes, I just don't think it could be improved at the moment.

For me, Fox and Rodriguez out. Shaw and Lallana in. Lallana is too good to leave him out of the first team indefinitely. Fonte and Forren in when fully fit.
