Sounds like it could keep him out for the season.

TONY PULIS was left counting the cost of Stoke City's hard-earned point at Aston Villa as he confirmed that striker Ricardo Fuller is facing the prospect of an injury lay-off with a damaged Achilles tendon.

Pulis revealed that the Jamaican international had been taken to hospital for a scan after being stretchered off in the closing stages of the draw at Villa as the Potters edged a step closer to Premier League safety.

City are not likely to learn the full extent of the problem until the results of the scan are known early next week.

But Pulis said: "It's his Achilles that he has damaged and although it is too early to say, it does not look too good.

"It is a big blow to us because he is a game changer who can come on and do special things. Even in the short time that he was on the pitch today, he created three or four opportunities out of nothing. That is Ric for you."

Pulis admitted that he was delighted with a point in the end after his side struggled to build upon a bright opening 40 minutes to the game in which record signing Kenwyne Jones scored his third goal in as many games.

"The worst thing that happened to us was half time," added City's manager. "We looked bright in the first 40 minutes and but for an unbelievable save from Friedel, we might have been further in front at that stage.

"But you only have give Bent half a chance and he punishes you, and at half time, I could see one or two were a bit jaded when we got in the dressing room at half time.

"We couldn't get going after the break and it was really just a matter of trying to stay solid so that we hung in there.

"I am delighted with the point because Villa have been on a good run and this was always going to be a tough game.

"Our brief over the past three years has been to stay in this League and we still need points to ensure that is the case.

"It has been quite remarkable what we have achieved in reaching the FA Cup Final, but there is no danger of us letting that affect our main priority, and I think that showed in the way we performed in the first half today."

Just once, I'd love it if Pulis would do some trash talking! Say the opposition are crap, and a bunch of arseholes! None of this staying dignified, and having respect for their ability craic!

  3. Sorry to hear about Ricardo. It is a blow for us but I am sure he will recover for a crack early next season.

Hope he recovers ASAP. Tone never gives him a first 11 start anymore, but he has been such a hard-working trooper for getting is in the EPL. And he's Stoke's super-sub.
