Goalkeepers. When the Bruce was here I think we all thought Gordon out and Mig and Westy to fight for top spot. Assuming Gordon is OK, big assumption I know, what will MON think? One keeper must go IMO, all to good when fit for third choice but who will it be?
I think Gordon mate, his injuries will be the reason. Mig is fine, jittery at times but okay. Westwood again is solid but, still has his moments. No doubt Gordon will be released and a decent sized club snap him up and, he'll not miss a game for 3 years.
Yeah, I reckon Flash may have played his last game at the club, when he goes he'll have no shortage of clubs throwing cash his way to get him to sign for them, then he'll become immune to injuries and play till he's 45. Westwood first choice for me Ming solid backup but deffo just backup.
IMO we should extend Flash's contract and give him time to get fit, as he is far and away our best keeper. Bart
What we had in 2009-10 and 2010-11 was to all intents and purposes, different squads. And both lots of players had excessive injuries. Now I don't want to harp on about Bruce, but he didn't sack a medical officer for nothing. I say let MON have a look at things and let him decide who's injury prone and who's not - under his own training regime. I don't think we've a lot to learn that's relevant from the last two-and-a-half years. A lot will have changed last week.
Agreed Bart but, that should have been done last year if only for a one year extension to keep him tied to us.
Gordon to sign a 1 yr extension, Westwood as back up and Ming sold. I would also have Westwood first choice as he has done nothing wrong, and Ming second. This option only of Gordon rejects a new contract.
Would anybody take a chance on Gordon? Imo the best of the 3 but given a choice would keep Westwood as No1 due to Gordons injury problems.
He would have done plenty wrong if the ref hadnt blown for a foul against an innocent Samba, lucky lucky boy!
Haha it was a foul, I called it at the time, my biased Geordie neighbour called it and the most important person the ref called it.
It doesn't matter what you, me or anybody thinks. It is what the referee decides that is important and he gave a foul. I think it was a correct decision but certainly those of a black and white persuasion won't. I just wonder what they would be saying if it had happened to them?
Not to be argumentative but I thought it wasn't a foul, the keeper flew into the back of Samba as he flapped at the cross, but the only person's opinion that mattered is the ref's and he saw it as a foul so no harm done.
Well Vauxsamson it's these controversial decisions and how we all interpret them that help to make football the great game it is.
