You heard right... saw this stat in the paper, and someone on Twitter has uploaded a snap of it... please log in to view this image Great stuff to see. Some fans may not care where their scorers are from, but it is nice to see we are topping this table!
No idea. If you mean Puncheon being credited with 2 goals he has been officially given the goal from the Villa game.
No it shouldn't because it wasn't at St Marys. Oh hang on, it's not the goals just at St Marys. Really poorly worded article.
Oh I see DTLW was giving a hint haha. Lambert has 2 away goals, Puncheon 1 , Lallana 1, the OG. The article is badly worded.
I'm really chuffed with that. How many other teams are putting out 6 English players in their 1st choice 11. Genuine question?
Will be easy for Hodgson soon...just pick English Saints players, then fill in the gaps with other players unlucky enough to play for other teams
Will never happen though Fran - as we have seen in the past England managers seldom pick Saints flair players as unfortunatley they dont fit the mould of a boring, defensive strategy. I am just so happy that we have a team to watch playing attractive football each week, with a fair sprinkling of home grown talent. It is good to see this stat though - be great if it still holds true at the end of the season, as it would probably mean that we are safe and sound.
If this is good, does it make it bad when a non-English player scores for us? I don't see the relevance at all. Now if the table showed players developed from within the Academy and hence "home grown", then it would hold some credence for me and show we are putting faith in home grown nutured players, but apart from that it is a little xenophobic.
Not xenophobic. The problem is that there are too few England-eligible players in the PL...problem for England team anyway. Think the article was just pointing out that Saints have the most English goalscorers.
