Tuesday 28th February@19:45pm - Craven Cottage Leeds travel down to South West London on Tuesday evening, aiming to reach the last eight of the FA Cup for the first time since 1987, when Billy Bremner guided Leeds all the way to the Semi-finals, only to be beaten 3-2 by Coventry City (David Rennie and Keith Edwards getting on the score sheet for the Whites), but only if they can beat high flying Fulham. The nearest they have come since, was back in the 2012/13 season when they overcame Birmingham and Spurs before being dumped out by Manchester City at this very stage (fifth round). Marco Silva's team have had a remarkable season thus far, sitting seventeen points and eleven places above their Wet Yorkshire rivals. The Cottagers welcome back leading goal scorer Aleksandar Mitrović who has overcome a thigh injury which has kept the Serbian International sidelined for the last two games. João Palhinha (suspended), Neeskens Kebano (calf) and Tom Cairney (ankle) and Dan James (Cup tied) all miss out for the visitors. Leeds have no fresh injury concerns following their 1-0 victory over Southampton at the weekend. Rodrigo, Sinisterra, Struijk, Gray, Forshaw and Dallas all miss the trip down to London, whilst Greenwood is suspended.
I think Fulham are only second in the form table since the world Cup to scum. I think this one has come too early for Gracia. A win would give everyone a major lift and belief though so fingers crossed!
watched Fulham play a few times they are not that good,as a team Leeds have enough to do them it all depends on which team turn up, i hope its the the one with determination will to win, and provided the new coach can stop the stupid inaccurate short passes, and play like we all know they can tomorrow evening there will be a few serenading their good ladies after a cracking win
Think rich is still riding that post-jesse high… let’s hope it’s a long ride though there was similar confidence before the Everton game fck it… I’m all in on a Leeds win too.
Looking forward to this more than any game in last two months. Maybe it’s just being able to watch a game with no pressure for a change
Of course it matters. Two games from Wembley. What harm will a few extra minutes do to these pampered sportsmen anyway. Clubs in Europe play two games a week for a lot of season and field same team in Europe as in League. And pointless talking about risk injury as the modern day footballer can get injured cutting their toenails. Most of them probably have someone to do that for them of course
Well lets just hope everyone gets through the game without injury. Chelsea game is far more important and if Bielsa was in charge he would have changed the squad. Semi finals at Wembley are another case of greed by the F.A. Only the final should be played there. How we play tonight is more important and will show Gracia what needs doing.
Absolutely. I hate it when you hear people say a club hasn't been to Wembley for 20 years when in fact it was only a semi-final anyway. Getting to Wembley used to be an achievement in itself, but then I guess that was back in the day when the FA Cup really meant something. Showing our age here Wakey.
I get what you're saying Eire. Some clubs never get to a final so it's a big event getting to a semi-final. And of course this all started in '91 when it was Arse v Spurs and Sheff U v Sheff W in the semis, so the argument was that more fans than ever wanted a ticket. But where do you stop ? Why not have FA Cup quarter finals there too ? Or semi-finals of the league cup ? Getting to the final is the real prize, I think Wembley should be reserved for finals only.
