You watching SSN too district? Looks like you just about beat me to it! Pleased about Cahill seemingly being a done deal?
Liverpool not at the moment mate, just catching up on Twitter at the moment. Cahill should be a good asset, good ball playing defender but I'm not sure that he is good enough. I am still curious to know what the initial bid was, I am guessing probably £3m. Maybe it was blocked to club rivalry, I am not sure Fulham fans would be happy about selling a fan favourite to their biggest rivals. Particular as Fulham are not yet safe.
Yeah, Cahill is a good ball playing defender like Luiz. But if Terry is suspended for a few games, I worry about those two 'ball-playing' at the back. Still, better than Gabbidon and Anton I guess!
I don't think the club rivalry would come into it too much, afterall we are supposedly in talks with Alex from you guys - would love it if that happened. We probably just went in with too low an offer for him... we did only offer £1.5m for the Yak from Blackburn - bit cheeky if you ask me! Cahill is quality in my opinion, mind you i suppose i have to say that! Seriously though, the goal he scored against us on the opening day was unbelievable, really showed us what a proper Premier League centre back can do! Hope he does a solid job for you and doesn't become one of these players that gets swallowed up by the big clubs, although that shouldn't be a problem if he keeps playing the way he is.
I agree, Cahill is new to the club and Luiz is still finding his feet, I guess it just shows how important JT is for us atm, gone are the days when we had Carvalho and Judas to rely upon. Gabbidon and Anton at least have PL experience and Anton is still young, better than them 2 La Liga defenders What have I done Col? I know a lot of Fulham fans and they all seem to rate Andy Johnson, he seems a fan favourite there much like Dempsey and Zamora, it would perhaps be a bad move for them to sell to an immediate rival. Whilst I think Fulham will not be relegated and will get top half, It would be too premature to mathematically say they are safe, there is still a lot to play for
I think you are just testing the waters at the moment which is safe and also reassures the fans. £1m for AJ does seem a bit low though, even with his injury problems he is still at least a 10-15 goal a season striker, which is what you guys need.
AJ a fan favourite? Not on our board. Only started scoring when he started contract talks, then he went off the boil. His contract is up at the end of the season, which probably explains the low bid. I don't think rivalry has anything to do with the rejection, I think we're holding out for a sensible price. That and we're low on strikers.
That's fair enough, only basing it on the Palace and Fulham fans I know in person. What sort of bid would you be happy with?
Cottagers reject initial offer for frontman Last Updated: January 6, 2012 4:41pm Sky Sports sources understand that Fulham have rejected a bid from Premier League rivals Queens Park Rangers for Andrew Johnson. Sky Sports revealed on Wednesday that Neil Warnock was looking to land the England international. The 30-year-old is due to be out of contract in the summer and is yet to commit his future to the Cottagers. His potential availability has seen him fall on to the radar of a number of clubs, with proven Premier League goalscorers hard to come. QPR had been keen to add him to their ranks, with the Loftus Road outfit looking to bolster their attacking options. It is, however, understood that they have been knocked back in their efforts to land Johnson. It is possible that a deal could still be pushed through - with Blackburn also said to be interested - as Fulham will be reluctant to risk losing the former Birmingham, Crystal Palace and Everton frontman for nothing at the end of the season. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7415339/
Haha sure mate, you need to follow your own advice to District, "Keep protesting your innocence mate...just don't protest too much or could blow it!"
Doesn't surprise me, we seem to be bidding low on everyone at the moment, Yakubu for £1.5m, AJ for £1m, even Samba for £5m seems a bit low to me... leaving scope to make improved offers I expect.
He's an important player and offers something a lot of energy and endless running, £1 million is a bid of a joke to be honest, but considering Warnock's feelings toward Fulham I would expect no less.
