Obviously it would depend on who we are offered, but i'm guessing they won't be of any great shakes. That said, JET is not wanted or rated by Mick, therefore to get him off our wages, and to get some youngsters in, could only be a positive move. Can we not chuck in Chops as well, and get a better deal?

I like JET and I really would like us to keep hold of a player like him. I like players who get you up off your seat and he's probably the only player we have who can unlock a defence with a single pass. BUT saying that it's Micks decision and he's clearly not a Mick 'type' player nor does he really fit into a rigid 442 that Mick prefers and I geuss given FFP Mick would prefer the money paid for his wages to go on players which suit his methods more.

Like I said it's a shame because he's still young and has got great potential just not Micks cup of tea!!

    Is that official?

I think this decision is purely financial rather than footballing as I'm sure Mick realises the amount of talent JET has, but as has been said we need to cut our cloth accordingly and the Martin has been offloaded as he doesn't offer 'value for money' as with JET, who does at least have some resale value <ok>

Talent is useless unless you can produce it consistently, true he can unlock a defence with a single pass, but the question you have to ask yourself, is how often he does it. One good game in five or six, is just not acceptable, all the better than average players are consistent, they might have the occasional poor or indiffent game, but on on whole throughout a season they will perform.

Apparently Fulham wont pay a fee but even so it would be worth giving him away to get him off the wage bill, lets face it hes had lots of chances and its obvious he either cant or wont consistently do it for us. The deal for Tabb seems to have stalled so with JETs departure we might be able to clinch the deal for Tabb who is in my opinion an absolute "must have" for ITFC.

    Hi Guys - I'm a Fulham fan.
Interesting rumour this one and I believe it has legs - we're shopping for bargains all the time and we have too many lads in the development squad for them all to get game time with us.

Of the various versions of the story around, the most likely to me is:
Marcello "Rodney" Trotta to you on a permanent and maybe Stockdale on a year's loan. Trotta is a big, bustling centre forward, probably not going to make premiership, but will develop with the right coaching. Stockdale is a good (sometimes very good) young keeper, who I think will be premiership class (I believe he already is really). We are looking for 4m for Stocky but could be a good one for longer term.

What's JET like these days? Is he fit? I saw a pic of him looking a bit tubby. There are odd comments on ITFC forums about him partying - does he have discipline issues? is that why Mick wants rid?

If he's on the reported 15-18k then that would free up some budget for you guys - though I would be surprised if he got any more than that with us (maybe goal/win bonuses, but no more basic) - even our senior players don't get above 40-45k.

Good luck for the season, opinions would be appreciated.

    Hi tosh,

I'm a big fan of JET but he's definitely a bit of an enigma, typical flair player who lacks consistency but on his day is an outstanding player. I think Mick had a couple of problems with JET to start off with, apparently he showed terrible work rate but to his credit he knuckled down and earned himself praise for doing so by Mick toward the end of the season. He seemed to be pretty good for team morale and also did alot of work in the community, I don't think he's a bad egg but whether he has that mental edge to really make it at the top is definitely questionable, he certainly has the talent to do so.

I think we're looking to get rid for a combinations of reasons really, he's not really a Mick 'style' player and is probably best suited in a more fluid formation but Mick prefers a rigid 442 and I don't think he ever figured out where to put him in this add to that it sounds like he's on a decent wage, Mick clearly doesn't think it's worth keeping hold of a player who's not likely to get regularly into his first team. It could definitely go either way for the lad though, he could go onto play for one of the best teams in the country and light up the PL or he could fall into obscurity in the lower leagues!!

I doubt we'd be interested in Stockdale again purely for financial reasons.

JET is probably the the most talented player we have, and on his day is absolutely unplayable, can unlock a defense with a pass, I've seen defenders double up on him and he's gone past them like they're not even there, you can see the fear on the defender's faces as JET, on his day, runs at them with the ball at his feet...

But it's always 'on his day', on most other days he can be completely anonymous, drifting in and out of the game, and certainly (and unfortunately) not a McCarthy type player...I'd be sorry to see him go, he's got so much to offer if only he could find some consistency, but I'd wish him well if he goes to you too, a lot of potential if only someone could unlock it! <ok>

Thanks for the thoughtful responses fellas.

Sounds like he's worth a gamble - we have a very good youth set up and have bought in some "nearly ready" 19-21 year olds. He might get included with that group as a member of the PL squad and competing with 4 or 5 other youngsters to get a few starts and regular bench place for a season, with a view to a starting place in a season or two if he matures well.

If you didn't want Stocky, what about Briggs - a left back. He's big, strong and fast (can also play CB). Was on loan at Watford last season.

Hi tosh. Wasn't trotta out on loan last season? You thinking his level is at championship. Stockdale we've had albeit brief but I rate him highly and wouldn't say no to having him back. And you probably get the idea on jet. Bit of a mixed bag and enigma. Loads of potential just needs unlocking.

Yeah - Rodders was at Brentford. A bit of a mixed bag - but I think he will eventually make a Championship player - this was the first season he's had of playing most weeks in the league (as opposed to a development squad) and he went to Wembly with the Bees. He undoubtedly still has a lot to learn - but 442 with a reasonably mobile partner would suit him and he won't cost a fortune in wages.

He won't be short of partners. Looks like we have daryl murphy now so there's experience. Mcgoldrick who is a live wire. Nouble too. But all assumptions at the moment. See what the summer brings. We're certainly hoping for some decent players brought in to push on. Just hope ffp doesn't play to big a part.

...also just seen an unsubstantiated rumour that Forrester (his strike partner @Brentford) has signed for you.
