My Old Pal Frannie Lee rang a few minutes ago, prompting this match tread. Thinks we can nick an unlikely point at theirs! I said Frannie pal, take some water with you Whiskey pal....we’re gonna get a drubbing, I don’t think any of us are looking forward to this one TBH, Still predicting a 2-1 win for us though, as clearly I know a thing or two! Mighty Mighty Bluebirds!
Pep will be thinking this one's in the bag, get over confident and field the ball boys. we can take 'em. However, if he fields any of his squad, we still have to throw caution to the wind 1-0 or 20-0 makes little difference. Get in their faces.
Aguero unlikely to feature - good news but Jesus is a superb cover. The talk of the choices they have in other areas is frightening https://www.express.co.uk/sport/foo...p-Sergio-Aguero-injury-latest-Raheem-Sterling
A quick bout of norovirus needed at the Etihad. Such a difficult choice if Sterling doesn't play. Sane or Mahrez? If, say, Hoilett or Murphy is absent. No disrespects to either but our choice is NML or Kadeem? They are not strongest at the back if we can have some ball to get at them. Getting the ball is the difficult bit. And we've had one day's less rest as they played Saturday. All set up for the shock of the season with a 2.0 to us. Not my prediction by the way.
Yes, it's really scary that in some positions, they can probably afford to rest their third choice. Though I guess if they're third choice, they've had enough rest anyway.
Like this humorous road sign https://talksport.com/football/520905/manchester-city-cardiff-u23s-road-sign-neil-warnock/
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has been ruled out through injury having been substituted at his own request in the win at Fulham. Vincent Kompany is available following nearly a month out with a muscular problem but Fabian Delph is sidelined. Colin Bell likely to get a run out, after a long layoff! Cardiff City full-back Jazz Richards, who is yet to start a league game this season, has returned to training following a thigh injury. Defender Sol Bamba and forward Callum Paterson are both long-term absentees Aguero, the Premier League's top scorer this season with 19 goals, left the field at Craven Cottage with a muscle problem. "He didn't train the last two days and cannot play tomorrow," Guardiola said. "We will see his evolution in the next few days." City will reclaim top spot in the Premier League if they beat Cardiff and are still able to win an unprecedented quadruple, with an FA Cup semi-final against Brighton on Saturday and next week's Champions League quarter-final first leg at Tottenham. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola on the pressure to win: "It will not be a problem. We know what we are going to play for. Every single game is a final. "Cardiff what I saw against Chelsea is alive. They have incredible spirit. It is not a team that is already done. It is there but we want to be there too." Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock: "We've got to do our best in the game. I doubt any of our squad could get in either two of their first teams. "They've taken the Premier League to another level. And you're not only putting your wits against the very best - possibly in Europe - but it's the highest odds in a game this season; 40/1 in a two-horse race. "The bookies say they've never seen betting like it." If the game goes the way I would expect, with Manchester City dominating possession, then I would be surprised if Cardiff keep it competitive because of how much they gave on Sunday. This game is not make or break for the Bluebirds, but their following two fixtures could be - at Burnley on 13 April and then at Brighton three days later. Prediction: 4-0 Head-to-head Cardiff's only victory in their past 20 away league fixtures against Manchester City was 2-1 in the top flight at Maine Road in 1961 (D8, L11). Manchester City have scored at least four goals in each of their last four top-flight wins against Cardiff. Both teams have scored in all 14 top-flight meetings in Manchester. Manchester City Manchester City have won 18 of their 20 matches in all competitions in 2019 (D1, L1), scoring 66 goals. They have triumphed in 15 of their 16 Premier League home fixtures, with their only defeat coming against Crystal Palace on 22 December. City have faced just one shot on target in their last three league matches: Gerard Deulofeu's goal for Watford on 9 March. Cardiff City Cardiff's loss to Chelsea was a fourth in five Premier League matches. They have registered 28 points with seven matches remaining and are five points adrift of safety. They finished their only previous Premier League campaign with 30 points in 2014. The Bluebirds have won only four of their 33 Premier League away fixtures (D6, L23) overall. However, two of those victories have come in the last six fixtures on the road. They have lost all 10 Premier League away matches versus established top six teams. Eighteen of Cardiff's last 22 Premier League goals were scored in the second half. Neil Warnock has won only one of his 11 league matches as a manager against Manchester City (D2, L8), Sheffield United's 1-0 home victory in the second tier in January 2000. Coming to get you Pep, you’d better believe it...yep!
Anyone go to the FA Cup tie at Maine Rd in 1982? Lost 3-1. We were shoehorned into the away end like sardines. Man City were top of the old Division 1 with Trevor Francis leading their line.
Just looked at the odds on B365 for tonight's game. We're on 33/1 to win it and 10/1 for the win or draw double chance. Hmmm..........now I wonder .............
In the words of Shankly - "and they were lucky to get nil". Can't see us getting anything from this other than perhaps a consolation goal like we got at Anfield - now there could be the bet!! Gonna have a look at the odds for our guys to score and may have a few groats on a couple of them.
I reckon the odds on any particular one of our players scoring aren't very generous, in fact very poor - just had a thought though. They are bound to score (aren't they?), so what are the chances we could stick one away from anyone on the park, even an own goal would do? Odds for both teams to score are 11/8. Now that doesn't seem that generous either but surely Etheridge can get one.........
