Isn't that good that they didn't print the whole story?

Don't need to fill the car up but need petrol for the lawnmower. Don't want to go to fill the container up as it looks like you are one lof those twats filling their car up and Jerry cans as well.

Why don't you just plug your cars in?

I can 70km in mine without needing fuel....

Apparently, there wasn’t even a national fuel shortage to begin with. A couple of petrol stations had a shortage, media got wind of it and falsely reported a national shortage, bedwetters started panic-buying all over the country which then created an artificial shortage which was manufactured by exaggerated media reports.

That's exactly what happened, the media in this country are shocking and are the route of most problems. But on the flip side it shows how easily manipulated humans are. The media could pretty much get the population to do whatever it wanted if they really wanted to. Most people these days seem to lack the capacity to think independently.

Did the media 'big-up' a national shortage? I don't think so. I'm retired and spend a lot of time reading news. I saw lots of articles stating a small number of suppliers had closed a small number of petrol stations because of delivery problems. I saw countless pictures of Grant Shapp and others saying categorically there was no fuel shortage. I saw lots of pictures of queues at petrol stations. I think the media was right to report the delivery problem, govt (for once) did right to say there was no shortage, supplies ran out at some places because a lot of people are idiots.
I'm happy to knock msm when it's due but not in this case.

Can you imagine the utter chaos if there was actually something to panic about?

Behave, just take a look at how much the HDM "bigged it up" for a start, along with most other outlets, they made it way worse then it ever needed to be.

I work for a big retailer. Milk and bread used to come Everyday. Sometimes now it’s every other day. It’s the same as petrol. We just have to stop acting like idiots and calm down.

News media exist primarily not to report news but to sell advertising.

The more people they reach the more money they make.

OMG, a crisis looms!!!!!!! gets more clicks than Nothing to see here.

So which way are they going to go?

    Obvious really.

The HDM and other Reach PLC papers are all about click bait headlines and hits per page. Regional press is going downhill fast.

Media are scum and produce fake news just like social media. All the sheep/idiots then believe it and the shortages begin simply because supplies can't be replenished quick enough, same as the toilet rolls last year.
If everyone ignored it and carried on as normal then there wouldn't be a problem in the first place.
