Rumour thats going about at the moment, I spose if they spend peanuts this summer in the window , it could be true
Mike Jefferies the guy who did the video to get H & G out is sayin it on twitter, I wouldnt rule anythin out at the mo TBH
I doubt it very much. Why pay off all the debts, get the business in to a state where it can make a year on year profit, not just for this business but every business you own to just sell it up. Are FSM, Boston Redsox, Rousch Fenway or NESN world brands? Hell No. Ask anyone in Europe, South America & Asia who David Ortiz and they'll look at you blankly. Ask them who Pepe Reina or Steven Gerrard is and you'll get a much better response. Would LeBron James associate himself with the Boston Red Sox? Hell no! why? Because on the basketball court Boston Celtics & Miami Heat are rivals and it would be bad publicity. this whole notion of them selling up now is poppycock
I don't think they will find many buyers for a club without a manger, MD, DoF (not really needed), and without Champions League football or a big enough stadium.
if they didn't sack everyone i suppose anything would be possible but as it stands it'd be ridiculous. but i rule nothing out at this point. lets wait and see
Isn't that what asset strippers do? A profit-making business sells for much more than a loss-making one. Not that they're asset strippers but that was Hicks' plan all along. I heard that because of the state of the Sox they're looking to Liverpool but that could just as easily suggest because of the state of the Sox the fans there are questioning why they're messing about with a football team thousands of miles away. Sox fans expressed concern as soon as NESV bought LFC that it would divert funding and distract their attention. It seems there's a correlation to be made there, whether it's valid or not.
Which is possibly why they see LFC as a better hope right now. I dunno, just speculating but it can't be comfortable at home for them right now. The new manager they've appointed there doesn't seem to have been a popular choice, either.
If it comes down to a straight choice between us and the struggling Sox they'll look after them before us,but this summer will show us their commitment to LFC(or not)because the honeymoon period ended when they sacked Kenny.
If they were going to sell, they wouldn't have made all these radically changes, and put together such an intricate plan for how the club will move forward.
What people have to remember is this I am sure when FSG bought the club, Henry said they wouldnt have been interested in buyin Liverpool, if the football authorities were not bringing in FFP Who thinks that FFP is actually going to come in, or is it a pipe dream. If FFP doesnt happen..................................
I actually agree with this and is my big worry with them. The red sox are really famous over here and have die-hards that if things aren't going well will have their say and want answers/actions just as SoS seems to be doing again. If it came between the two I can see them choosing the red sox. The only good thing IF this happens is that there wouldn't be too much of a rush or deadline until you go bust to get the club sold? Would be nice to have an owner/set of owners whose only sports asset was LFC. Hell, it would be better if it was done Barca style with the fans in control but that probably won't happen for a long long time.
I am not saying they ARE looking to sell up, its just a rumour going around, but I certainly wouldnt rule it out, especially as 18 months after purchase,( they got LFC for about £230m), still no sign on movement on the stadium, and the our net transfer spend equates to the clubs yearly operating profit( about £35m).In other words, since buyin the club for a knockdown price they havnt spent a penny
The 200+m they 'paid' for us was to clear the debt. Essentially we were free as long as the debt was cleared. It wasn't 200+m AND clear 200m of debt.
