The news on Austin is clearly disappointing and I'm not suggesting we don't need new strikers, but why does everyone seem to have written off Matty? Sure he missed most of last season and wasn't great when he came back (too much expectation?) but I've not seen any comment on here that positively suggests he could make the step up to Premier league - indeed there seems to have more comments suggesting we should sell him. Could he not be our surprise package? He's hardly played with Aluko or Prozzy - should we give up on him so soon?
I bumped into him in East Midlands airport 3 weeks ago with his mrs and kids. Had a photo with him and he said he was looking forward to the new season. I asked I he was staying and he said he hoped so.
This^^... I've heard tonnes of city supporters bangin on about Le Fondre being the striker we should sign because he scores goals in the Prem and in the same breath saying Fryatt won't cut it....ALF came from Rotherham for gods sake! Fryatt will score goals in the PL he just needs a chance to prove it.
I wouldn't go for Le Fondre at the price being banded round, scored some crackers last season but I think that's the very best of him and not likely to see it consistently. Think his level is the championship and I think McDermott and that ponce agree too, as he rarely started a game despite scoring a dozen.
Only a fool would write off Matty at the moment. Same with Prozzy. Far to easy to have a go at them. I want to see if Tom Cairney can get back to the form he last had back in 2009/10 PL season. If not then bye bye.
I think he'll go on loan to a Championship club. I mentioned before that Yeovil and Bournemouth are interested, but Tom doesn't fancy the travelling (that or he baulked at playing for them). Think if Doncaster came in with a bid we'd take it, which is ironic when you think about it.
Thought the Allams had introduced a live near Hull clause. How does Matty fit in to that, he has moved back to the Midlands hasn't he.
Doncaster would be about the perfect move for Tom. But i think we shall hang to him until our coc days are over.
Me and my hero on 20/6/13. The day before I turned 30 and two days before I got hit by a car and put in hospital. Good times Sorry lads the photo won't upload from my phone
Apparently, the new rule only applies to new signings, though the club are also encouraging the existing players to move(there's only a few who don't live locally anyway).
From what has been reported it says that the player must have a Hull post code address. How can the club force his Mrs and kids to live in Hull ? What Fryatt does in his own time is up to him. Plus his move away was club sanctioned. In saying that it might have an impact on Fryatt when it comes to contract talks again.
What Ehab said, was "One of the things we have introduced is to ask the players we are signing on significant long-term deals to relocate themselves and perhaps their immediate families to an HU postcode. If the players live locally, they are going to have more time to rest, embed themselves in the community and feel fresher." http://www.thisishullandeastriding....tory-19249195-detail/story.html#ixzz2YZCyYKb7
I have no issue with that at all. It makes for a good squad atmosphere. But in Fryatt's case he was allowed to re-locate his family so that they could be nearer to the grandparents especially when Fryatt was away with the team. If his Mrs wants to live in the midlands then Matty just needs a Hull address for himself. Nothing to stop the Fryatt family having two places is there ? Did they ever get to sell the house here ?
Of course it would. However, Was it not that Fryatt's Mrs cannot handle the kids on her own or something, Hence why she wanted to get back closer to the family. ? It could be an issue when it comes to any new contract offered.
