I keep watching the replay and getting more incensed rather than calming down! First area of frustration is the chances we created that we did not convert. We have been saying for ages that we need to win more convincingly and we had chances to do that today. More killer instinct required in front of goal and more intelligent play such as Krancjar demonstrated for most of the game. The subs should have done better and I believe we saw Hoilett at his worst today with little intelligence in his passing. I am most frustrated with the referee who I thought was joint poorest we've had all season so far. He missed two penalties that should have been given to us - Hoilett and Benayoun - and he was just itching to send Joey off. In order to be fair, I am told O'Neil was lucky to be on the pitch first half. It is likely injuries may have played a part in out FIRST HOME DEFEAT of the season. I wish AJ had been available today even as a sub. Just too frustrated for words. I tried to keep my expectations reasonable but I really thought we would win today. As for that twat Vardy celebrating in front of us, why didn't he p' off to his own fans and do what ever he wanted to do up there. Consolation - we are still above them in the league! I hope we go there on 19th April and really stuff em good! My son is getting married that day so would be a great wedding day gift! EDIT. Just made myself feel slightly better by reminding myself that this is the 21st league game and our first home defeat. In the last promotion season, Watford beat us at home in the 20th game though that was our first defeat of the season.
Me too mate. i hought we gave them a lesson in football first half. just need that someone to put the ball in the net
That made me giggle. Yossi Benayoun needs to be given an Oscar for the dramatic death he performed after he ran into Wasyl's shoulder chin first Also, Phillips is a strong lad. Takes more than an arm out to stop a player running at you. I thought the diving was disgusting to be honest. It's ruining the game, there is no sportsmanship now.
That whole post made me laugh too AKCJ! Fair enough about being annoyed at not being able to take your chances. We know all too well how that feels. That referee was the joint poorest you've had? Blimey, are you getting world class referees every week? Thought he was spot on about pretty much everything tbh, although the one thing he did get wrong, was O'Neill should have been given a straight red in the first half, when he was only given a yellow. Two penalties that should have been given? Are you having a laugh? Honestly, they were 2 of the worst penalty shouts I've ever seen, you appealed more out of desperation than actually thinking they were penalties. As I said earlier, the ref was good, I'm especially glad that he didn't cave to the home pressure and just give you one because you're expected to win. You thought you would win today? That's the kind of arrogance that bites you in the bum in this league. We were only just behind you in the league, what made you think we'd be an easy 3 points? Wow, breaking news, opposition striker celebrates a goal infront of home fans shocker... Stop the press!!! Get over yourself... For the record, I still think you'll win the league. You have the best squad by a country mile, but when your average wage is £30k, it's hardly surprising. I just hope we can pip 2nd spot. All the best
OK, feeling slightly better after a night's sleep but will respond to these two posts. Andy, I know the ref does not have the benefit of HD slow motion, frame by frame and I completely understand that he has to make a split second decision. Benayoun did not run into your man. He was body checked by him. However, I don't think he actually got an elbow in the face which I did think yesterday while posting the above. Jack, it is not arrogance to believe that you will win a game! Don't you approach most games believing that you will win? QPR fans did arrogance in the 2nd PL season we had and we are not at all keen to repeat that aspect of our history. I believed that we would win because I had hoped that we might actually convert some of the reasonable number of chances that we did actually create into goals! If that is arrogance, so be it. You may feel aggrieved that O'Neil was not sent off but that is cancelled out by the identical foul that James committed for which he too was given a yellow. Absolutely and incontravertabaly so. Watch the replay! It is always pleasant to read opposition fans stating we will do well so I will take that as a crumb of consolation and hope you are right. Looking forward already to the 19th April 14! Good luck for the rest of the season (except 19th etc).
Two completely correct observations. Ignore this Leicester fan. He's on the wind up and is hiding it by pretending to post seriously. James' foul was worse than O'Neill's because it actually made hard contact! And Bennayoun may not have got an elbow but he got a face full of enforced shoulder. Does it matter what part of the body you purposefully block a player in the face with?
Those were never pens in a million years. Leicester were professional and while 0-0 might have been a fairer result, we certainly didnt deserve anything more. Second half just vanished into obscurity and we need to do something about our inability to create chances.
We got what we deserved yesterday, it's no good dominating possession and rarely testing the keeper. We should have been out of sight by half-time on the run of play but the lack of cutting edge in the box that has been with us all season continued yesterday. Once Leicester got in front they visibly grew in confidence and we were anonymous for most of the second half continually wasting possession and were lucky not to concede more. Phillips and Hoilett really disappointed and once Joey had gone we were out of it. We need to sort out a pattern of play that is more incisive or else we will end up drifting into the play-off places and that would be a nightmare...
It's called losing and I am glad I am not affected by it Leicester got the points It's history We took 3 from Yeovil Don't look into it too much lads The teams at the top want success the teams at the bottom want survival Each man is allowed to support their team but don't let losing eat into you or you will become damaged I think at the moment Derby will go up with us and Leicester Reading Burnley Brighton may well have to fight it out
I'm gobsmacked with this. I don't even think I can get it into your head. If an attacker runs into a defender when the defender he is not even looking and the referee gives a penalty then the game is up. You're only kidding yourself pal.
Spot on. A free-kick would have been given if it was outside the box. Clearly impeded him. Ref bottled it.
The three posible "penalties". If any of them had been given against us you would have been spitting blood at the referee for awarding them. How much did you disagree with the pen C****** had in the FA Cup two years ago? The only one to me that may have been worth a second glance was the Phillips one. The other two were right in front of my seat in the Upper Loft & the chances of either being given were zero. Personally I thought the referee was awful all game but he was not the reason why we lost. Every 50-50 decision went in Leicester's favour except possibly the O'Neill (not seen it since it happened) yellow instead od red. The ref was summed up by his refusal to continue with the game with the squirrell on the pitch. It hasn't bothered other referees! I am in no way defending Barton but if his second caution was for kicking the ball away (I've no idea if this was the reason) how did Nugent escape a caution when he knocked the ball away? No, I didn't think that he had deflected the ball enough for that to be warranted.
Totally agree â Iâve watched that video clip of events leading up to the red card and @ 1:18 Barton appears to just throw the ball back to Taylor-Fletcher, who was complaining that he just had his eyes scratched out (pretty limp behaviour from a burly guy like that) - so really pretty innocuous stuff, although earlier in the game Barton had definitely laid out his stall with this ref with a lengthy yap, that required Clint Hill brought in to mediate. He kicks the ball at him mate. Yellow card all day long and he knew it. Boxing day off now!! He'll never change.
