I've seen a lot of people making assumptions about our starting line-up for next season and many have been really similar in who they include and leave out.

Quinn and Meyler seem to make every starting 11 and I can't remember Boyd being in any of them (as examples).

I recall that Bruce claimed Boyd was his greatest ever signing towards the end of last season... what reason is there to think he won't get played? He came off the boil a bit towards the end but then so did everyone. Why is Meyler a dead cert as well? He puts in a good shift by all means, but his passing can be very poor at times.

Some other question marks I have... can Brady, Chester and Elmo make the step up? Can Quinn? Do we have decent cover on the wings? What are people's views on this and in a 3-5-2, what would your starting 11 be and why?

Boyd's simply not good enough for the Prem

Meyler's supposed to be an Essien type - someone who can break up opposition play and get a forward move going - but he's not that good at either aspect

Quinn isn't bad and one of my favourite players, but he's got no strength or pace and he can't tackle to save his life. He also doesn't pose much of a goal-threat. If I had my way he'd be on the bench, with two new guys taking the central-midfield places and Boyd and Meyler ****ed off to Leeds or Bournemouth.

We know Chester's a decent player, but I thought he was poor for most of last season.

Brady improved massively last year in comparison to his first spell and he clearly has the makings of a bloody good player, but his crossing needs real work and he's the greediest footballer I've ever seen in a City shirt.

I don't think Quinn or Boyd will start at Chelsea, but that depends if we are able to bring a midfielder in

With Sagbo and Pros not able to make either selection currently

There is choice for places - not to say that either of these two are my preferred option

Feck - put Faye twice - who have I missed?

I think Brucey's going for the 352 but will have to change it when we keep getting our arses kicked. If you have great players you can play any formation, we will get found out big time.
I wouldnt have signed Boyd or Elmo.
    MAC
    Chezzy Davies Figuero
    Elmo Brady
    Cattermole
    Meyler Quinn

When we go 4-4-1-1 or 4-4-2

    Mac
    Rosy Chezz Davies Figuero
    Aluko Meyler Cattermole Quinn/Brady
    Sagbo Graham

    Good evening Mr Pessimist.
Quinn is a cracking player, no doubt about it. Meyler will do OK in the Premier League, he's like the Tom Huddlestone of City - had options infront of him but when needed did a great job. That's my opinion, I'm trying to be positive. As we're in the PL, I'm just happy we have a bloody good team!

Quinn seems to be getting more and more under-rated the longer this close season goes on...

Its very similar to Ghilas syndrome but the opposite. Also Jay Simpson had a mild bout of it under Barmby, every week he didn't play he became twice as good.

Quinn will be a revelation,to his doubters this season. He plays with fire and skill,i hope he gets the game time to prove himself.

Yeah, similar for me. That back 4 should be first choice, all the time.

I'd still try Elmo at first on the right, with Aluko behind the front two where he can do the most damage. Elmo looked fine early in the season and when he was in front of Rosey against Cardiff it worked well.

Cattermole alongside/behind Aluko him would be great, otherwise Meyler. Then Brady/Dudge or Boyd on the left wing.

To be fair to Boyd he was all over the pitch tackling and winning the ball back. Enough that I think he could do a job. Struggling to see Quinn fit in.

As we don't have a player called Cattermole, maybe Quinn could fit right in there ?

It seems it, which is a surprise as he is one of our best players imo.

Uneducated guess. He wants a player he knows. He's bought him twice. Bruce and Hughes hate each other, Hughes wont wanna sell him Palacios. The Catt(my new nickname for him) ticks every box.

I think I speak for the whole group when saying we hope you're as consistently wrong this season as you were last.
