Right this may be the most pharisaical article many will read, however lets just consider this for a moment!

At the minute, our defence is shambolic.

In order to deplay 2 attacking full-backs, we need the base to be VERY VERY strong, with support from midfield to come back and help matters.

We could potentially very shortly be gaining players such as--

Sonko is certainly a no messing " I'm going in whether I take you is immaterial " - which I absolutely LOVE from a cb

Pablo Ibanez, a cracking ball playing CB, just 30 with 24 caps for Spain.

+ other defenders that premier league sides will not want.

I look forwards to seeing the responses! I'll admit, this article is slightly from fantasy land, however lets just get the Leeds game out the way and get 2 or 3 in....

I still maintain, we have ££££ to spend, and could have the last laugh come October / November....

How about a back four of,

    Lowton - Gorkks - Ibanez - Cresswell

Then i would be far happier!!

    Too easy isn't it Spanish!

In Keane's earlier days I questioned his big money spendings from Sunderland and stated many a time that we needed to be signing Wes Hoolahan and Andrew Surman...The rest is History.

"It isn't like football manager" - "Fans don't see what we see" - Maybe sometimes the fans do have a reasonable idea of what we need!

    Sign us up Jewell!!!

Now, i'll probably get laughed at (or put in a straight jacket) but what about playing a back 5 formation, with Leadbitter as sweeper? If PJ is going to insist on playing Delaney and Smith, then we will need backup for when they cock it up, so, in my opinion, a sweeper would be a good option. I know Leadbitter has many critics on here, but, on his day, is not a bad footballer. So, maybe utilise him to protect our keeper. We will probably invite the opposition to attack us more often, but we could then have Martin and JET on the wings to hopefuly counterattack at pace (i can hear the shrieks of laughter right now)
It's only a thought, and can't be any worse than we have at the moment.

    Leadbitter as sweeper !?!?!?

Thats one of the funniest things I've ever heard !

His distribution is pathetic, not good in the tackle, he's hardly Matthias Sammer !

Leadtwat can go - end of. I don't think that JET is a wide player so perhaps a fit Carson or even pushing Edwards forward. If you do deploy to wide players then we need someone to get on the end of those crosses too.

(meant to say, does anyone else think that JET is really poor in the air for a big fella?)

The defence is scary but on top of that our midfield need to track there runners. Our defence needs support. They may be useless as they are but its not helped when captain pathetic set them up for their goals or our defence is left in a 6 on 4 situation because our midfield stands there and watch them run past.

What happened to Aljaz Struna by the way, must have had the most abysmal trial of all time for Jewell to let him go and decide Edwards didn't need covering at right back!

Jewell said after the Southampton game 'maybe we need some competition for Edwards at right back'. **** me talk about understatement of the century!!!

I think what he meant to say was ' we need two natural right backs and Carlos to a winger/squad player...

No no, he definitely didn't. it was perfectly clear that watching that game was the first time he'd considered we may need to sign a right back.

I was being sarcastic, but how we have not sorted that out since David Wright left is beyond a joke! There must be hundreds of better players capable of playing that position from anywhere in the football league!

Spanish - you can cross Gorrks off your list, he has just signed for Reading.

We should deploy Kennedy in front of the back four. This would allow Edwards and Cresswell to get forward as much as possible leaving Kennedy to cover the runners and give cover to our CB's. Leady's not allowed in the dressing room anymore except to clean boots, that's what you do when you are learning about football and maybe he needs to start all over again.
