Bristol City are "miles off" their best form despite coming from 2-0 down to beat Hull, says head coach Lee Johnson. Aden Flint, Bobby Reid and Josh Brownhill all scored in the second half to complete a remarkable 3-2 away win. It leaves the Robins fifth in the Championship, but Johnson says his side must improve if they want promotion. "It won't happen if we play like we have for the last 145 minutes, or whatever it is in the last two games," he told BBC Radio Bristol. "We're miles off at the moment. Yes, we've got very good players and injuries but we've got to do a lot of work. "It's a win and I'm very excited - but I'm not going to gloss over it, we have to keep working." Prior to the victory at Hull, the Robins lost 2-1 to Preston to suffer just their third league defeat in 19 games this season. Johnson believes the key to producing a promotion challenge is to grind out results even when playing poorly. "In every season - and luckily I've been promoted a few times - you have spells where you're not playing very well," Johnson added. "If we can produce results when we're not playing very well the confidence grows. "You maybe have seven or eight games a season where you sparkle properly. "The other stuff is about doing the ugly bits well, being in a structure and people understanding their role." The Robins take on seventh-placed Middlesbrough on Saturday before an away trip to third-placed Sheffield United.
I quite like that - it was brilliant to see that our side has the cojones/stamina to come back and win, but our performances haven't quite been up there with what we're capable of since the end of the last international break. Plenty to be happy with, but we've been presented with a rare opportunity to achieve something this year (playoffs or even better!), so whatever we can do to eek out that little bit extra is worth it.
A really good level headed no bones interview with 20man at 6pm not really much different in tone to last years presentation, except it was with us doing quite well .. seems a bit concerned with the injuries though ..... and frightened of MU ! but moreso about the additional gam/s around it sat tues sat tues etc
Man Utd is a free hit - bar an absolute thrashing, we won't come out of that game with much criticism, wheras Utd need to win comfortably just to meet expectations. They'll likely win, particularly considering it's a quarter final, but it should be a good atmosphere & not entirely outside the realms of possibility we can cause another shock...
