QPR have targeted £1.5million Armand Traoré as one of five answers to a humbling open day defeat in the Premiership.

The Arsenal left-back is on boss Neil Warnock’s radar, along with others, after the manager admitted he needed at least ‘four or five new players’ to bolster a side shell-shocked by the 4-0 home reverse to Bolton.

Defender Nedum Onuoha at Manchester City, winger Jason Puncheon, Scott Parker at West Ham are three of the others as new major shareholder Tony Fernandes has put up a £10million war chest to be spent over the next 12 days before the transfer window shuts.

Senegal international Traoré fits the Rangers bill for versatility by having a left-wing option as well. And after being left out of the Gunners’ opening day draw at Newcastle has told friends he wants top-flight football wherever he can get it – preferably in London.

Traoré was on loan at Juventus last season after failing to establish himself at The Emirates, and Warnock is desperate for a quick fix to plug the obvious gaps from day one.

The manager said: “One of the best things that can happen for the good of the squad is some new faces around the place.

“I know we’ve not left ourselves a lot of time before the transfer window closes, so it might mean a lot of late hours – but it has to be done if possible

A left and right back are priorities and Traore certainly fits the bill. Would love Scott Parker but think we would have to pay £6m plus and still not sure if he would come to us. An interesting 12 days ahead for us I think.

My Gooner supporting brother says he is quality but v lazy. Surpised he's agitating for a move as he seemed quite happy to take the wages and sit on the bench apparently? Is there anyone left at Arsenal after this week???

Surprised if they sell Traore with their current lack of cover.

Agree. With Gibbs and Djourou both out with hamstring problems, it only leaves them Sagna, Vermaelen, Kosceilny, Squillaci and the new lad Wilkinson, plus Traore.

I may be forgetting someone, but I'm sure Wenger knows he's too short at the back to let Traore go before the transfer wndow shuts.

Have a feeling arsenal are so desperate for silverware, they'll do everything they can to get relegated this season so they win the championship next season. We may get traore after all.

Personally I'd go for Carr and Ridgewell from Birmingham - Birmingham's defence wasn't their problem last year, it was the fact that they couldn't score...........
