Surprised by some on your list. I think the following may go from your list - Kenny (unless kept as back up), Ferdinand will stay but may not be a first choice next season, Derry (if he stays it will be as back up), Buzsaky not good enough, Smith definite to leave, only 1 of Helguson and DJ may be kept. Major number of ins and outs during the summer.
Some of the players on their I would only keep as squad players and there are far wore players to be had than Buzsaky, Smith or DJ Campbell in our reserves. It leaves room for 6 or so new signings to come in. Kenny, Derry and Ferdinand I would keep as back ups. As for Helguson, he was our top scorer this year despite missing nearly half the season. He is possibly the best header of the ball in the premier league so we should keep him. There will be a lot of ins and outs but if we build around most of this squad, we'll have one hell of a team next year
Players for me that can go are Gabbidon, Cerney, Boothroyd, Barton, Hulse and Helgusson (been a good servant of the club). Not sure about Buz but possibly may be time to move on and DJ Campbell whats happened to him. Scored one goal all season against Wolves but injury prone.
Forgot about Taiwo. Buz and DJ are definetly worth keeping. Im not suggesting they should be starting but would be a good part of the 25 man squad
I think its a bit unfair on DJ since he has been out most of the season i dont know what contract he has but maybe worth another year.
As a one year solution they are. We have proven this year that bringing in a whole new squad is pointless. What have you got against them? We're taking about the role of roughly 6th choice CM/ST. They're definetly good enough for that. Who would you rather we keep? SWP who has done **** all for all but 2 games? Keiron Dyer on the basis he was good 6 years ago? Ephraim who has never lived upto his potential? As for if their good enough, Buz has played sparingly this year but has scored and shown occasional glimpses of being a good player and DJ only made about 3 appearances so you can hardly judge him
I wouldn't keep any of them. Get rid of them all. We've plenty of time to build a squad over the summer. Last season were tried to do it mid-season and that don't work.
