Midfielder Alfie N'Diaye at 6ft 3 in already.

    Targets:
Centre half Mangane at 6ft 5
Defender Roland Juhasz at 6ft 3

We already have Striker Connor at 6ft 2

All my life watching Sunderland we have had a majority of small stature players (under 5ft 10 at least) and have often been muscled out of games by far more physical teams.

This looks to be changing with the targets this January and all of these lads are beasts. I would love to see a team of physically equipped but still skillful players that can control the midfield and dominate defensively and offensively. I want to see us bully other teams as we have so often been bullied and if we do sign the other 2 we will be a team not many will fancy playing or scrapping with.

I also see that another supposed 6ft 4 target Guillaume Hoarau has gone to a Chinese club today but there certainly seems to be a trend here to toughen up and dominate play.

    Long may it continue too.

This for me is the key - still skilful. I'm hoping for Yaya Toure rather than Stoke City.

Its not just adding height its adding pace and power, its obvious to see these two lads have the physical presence but it seems as though they have the pace as well

Fully agree, we need that physical presence in the middle and at the back, my fear is if we go too far and end up like Stoke. I honestly couldn't pay good money to go and watch that every week.

If we keep it in perspective then i think we would have the makings of a very good, strong team.

Fellaini could be in for a surprise this time round.

Providing we get past Bolton of course.

I'm certainly looking forwrd to seeing this kid and Cattermole in the same team. It should also allow some of our 'weaker' midfielders to express themselves a bit more, ie: Larsson, Johnson, etc, if they're not haveing to chase the ball then maybe, just maybe, we might see them start to show us what they can offer going forward.

I know it's early days and we haven't seen this kid kick a ball in the red and white yet but at last, i feel we can compete in the middle of the park. Bring on the scum, never mind Stoke.

If he's after height MON can sign me ;) in 6'4 and my best mate is 6'8.

Can't say I'm up to premiership standard though :(

    Agreed.
C'est is also right in stating we have always looked like midgets compared to virtually all teams.

A good mix of big n small is what we need. I think MON is signing just what we need. As someone else said it means our smaller skillful players will be able to express themselves more. I hope to see the best of Sess Larsson and Johnson.

    This for me:

    ................Migg..................
    Gardner..JOS..Mangane..Rose
    .........N'Diaye.. Catts...........
    Larsson......Sess.......Johnson
    ..............Fletcher.................

With the option to go 442 with Wickham up top etc... to me that team looks strong both down the middle and down both wings.
