Morning All, Young Chris Dawson, a local lad has signed his first professional deal with Leeds. The 18yo midfielder has been at Leeds since he was 9. Elland-deletes-a-thread-gate came to a head yesterday . At one point I was expecting mi5 to turn up No league match tomorrow, what is everyone doiung instead? Anyone going to a non league game? Dilema of the day What should be the punishment for a player who dives in the penalty area? Should they be sent for an early bath, ore is it acceptable in todays game?
Morning all Until the FA get to grip with shirt pulling in the box, it would be crazy to just punish divers. Every corner in every match, in any league, you will see defenders tugging a strikers shirt. Refs see it and don't bother doing anything, so why should a striker not use a different method to gain an advantage. FIFA 2 world cups ago were going to clamp down on shirt pulling, but it didn't happen
Morning all, you used to be able to dive in "This is football" on PS2. Actually a good footy game if I recall, but if u hit the R2 button with the ball you dived. Time it wrong and you got booked for simulation, get it right and you won the decision. Strange sense of accomplishment when you got it right! Hate diving, cheating etc in football. If you resort to that you're obviously not good enough. Doc's hit the nail on the head, FIFA always say they will clamp down on things, as do the refs every season, and its like you or me using an empty threat. Once you dont follow through with it once, footballers know they can push their luck, and so they will.
I think the powers that be are afraid of hockey, even cricket scores if they start punishing shirt pulling in the box-but thats a necessary evil. We would have a few weeks of 11-8 type scorelines, but it would soon stop people attempting to gain an advantage by breaking the rules.
Morning all. I'm with DOC on this on. Diving for a striker is no different to the over-guarding/shirt pulling that defenders currently get away with. The sooner referees start awarding penalties for when a defender has his arms all over an attacker as well as booking/sending off attackers who clearly dive the better. Domestics on Saturday, running on Sunday. Takeover/LUST/Papa Surf? DILLIGAF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Elland chris is one of my really good mates, he was unsure if he was going to get a contract similar type of player to Howson but suffered a bad leg break a couple of years ago. Hes also a Liverpool fan

Look out of the window................................ see that car? The one with the dark tinted glass? Yes, that one, the one with the two burly men in the front? I doubt its MI5 though, it may be far far worse......................LIW was seriously annoyed yesterday Diving is cheating. Not as serious as some things, though. On my moral compass, there's a scale at one end: - taking a short corner in the 88th minute when 1-0 up, and pissing about passing the ball back and thro..... annoying but perfectly legitimate, in fact requires skill to do it well - wasting time taking a free kick, in same circumstances - deserves a booking at the other: - violent reckless foul that could seriously hurt another player - red card - really bad behaviour like spitting - red card as well (my opinion, others may disagree) In between theres a whole host, including diving. On diving, the problem is also proving it, being sure, I suspect thats why even when refs don't give the "foul" they don't always book the diver. We all know examples where it was pretty obviously a dive, and players who have rep for that. But, for the ref, sometimes hard to decide (and I'd say rep should not really influence the decision, in a perfect world). I know some players are masters at catching their own feet to make it look like a trip, but... its also true players can trip themselves up when running and weaving at speed. How do you prove intent? Maybe a "sin bin" punishment would be a good option - less painful than a red or maybe even a yellow card, but an immediate punishment: depending on how long the sin bin is for, it would make players think twice. This does not address the "how do you tell an accident from a deliberate dive" question but I'd say if for a time refs operated more on the basis of "if it looks like a dive, it was one" and the punishment is a short sin bin, thats not grossly unfair but enough to make the divers think. Get the practice out of the culture after a season or two and refs could start giving the benefit of the doubt again.
whats Ska music? What bands? think my dad likes that style but not sure, which music is the one where they have talcum powder on floor and they all put it on their feet and dance about like psychos? I went to a new years eve party once which had that style Very **** music
WTF? strange party and thats not what your meant to do with white powder The Beats, Madness, selector, the Specials, bad manors These days you have bands like Reel big fish & the king blues which is also SKA.
They should get a 3 match ban and I am also of the opinion refs should not be deciding whether they are diving however they have someone analysing things from a tv screen and hand out punishments after games. Its too easy for a ref to get it wrong in the moment I think
Bad Manners Bucks Buster Bloodvessel and all that, all good stuff though mate, good to see a bit of a SKA revival.
Leeds United suitor GFH Capital brings in PR help A Dubai-based private equity house looking to buy English football club Leeds United has been using The Outside Organisation for media relations support, PRWeek understands. GFH Capital, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bahrain-listed investment bank Gulf Finance House, is understood to have engaged Alan Edwards’ agency to help its pursuit of the Championship club. Outside Organisation declined to comment on its involvement and GFH Capital did not return calls. However, PRWeek understands the agency was contracted before the start of the English domestic football season in August and has since been engaged on low-key comms and media work. GFH Capital announced to the Bahrain Stock Exchange on 27 September that it had ‘signed an exclusive agreement to lead a takeover of Leeds United’. A subsequent GFH Capital update, thought to have been sent via Outside Organisation, announced the company planned to ‘move the club back to the Premier League as quickly as possible and help to build a sustainable future for the club, both on and off the field'. The statement added: ‘This is expected to not only benefit the club and the surrounding community, but also the entire city of Leeds.’ Outside Organisation is best known for its work in the entertainment industry, advising stars such as Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones and David Bowie. However, the group is increasingly looking to take on corporate PR work and currently advises Sunderland Football Club and Richard Desmond’s Northern & Shell group on media and corporate issues. The agency also has a heritage in sport, having advised Novak Djokovic, Kevin Pietersen and David Beckham. It is thought that agency founder Alan Edwards and director of corporate Sam Bowen are leading the agency’s involvement with GFH Capital. Leeds United were one of British football’s leading clubs before a spectacular fall from grace amid financial problems a decade ago. The club battled against Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and AC Milan to reach the semi-final of the Champions League in 2001, but were relegated from the English Premier League just three years later. Earlier this week David Haigh, deputy CEO of GFH Capital, said he hoped the deal to acquire Leeds would be completed by the end of October.
