    It flies by mind.

But, as we've all lost family members and friends, we all know it's not the score that counts, it's being " not out!".

I shared a tent with a lass called Sandy Denny at Bardney Music Festival, still brings a tear to my eye ...

... I didn't realise the significance at the time.

    She took her own life.

    Sandy Denny, love her voice.
Led Zeppelin's The Battle of Evermore wouldn't be the same without her vocals.
    A pure, pure, voice.

Used to listen to this lass with Fairport convention probably early 70s along with Bert Jansch, John Renbourne and Pentangle.

You could probably buy Cuba for the cost of a Stones ticket these days <laugh>

Isn't it great how mad stuff can just happen!

Just between me and you, here's my Stones story ...

... short version in bullet points.

    • Me and Mrs Smug working for Lebanese politician, Madame Bustani, in the south of France.
    • Stones are on at the Nice football stadium
    • Madame Bustani has a huge party at her Cap d'Antibes villa so we can't go.
    • 9pm and she says I'm no longer needed but Kathy has to help with the party.
    • I jump on my Kawasaki VN1500 and arrive at a sold out gig with no ticket.
    • Spot a French Hell's Angel on the loading crew, speak to him in fluent French about Rat, Ted and various other Brit HA I knew he'd know.
    • Get a 'load crew bracelet' off him, go backstage and dive into the dressing room catering.
    • Twenty minutes after arriving call my sons, in the UK, ask them to guess where I am and put Mick Jagger on the phone.
    • Watch the gig from the side of the stage and send photos of me and the French Hell's Angels to Rat.
    • Rat dies and has a massive funeral cortège, in Mansfield, with Angels from all over the world including France.
    • I go to Rock City, last Christmas, with the son I called from the Stones dressing room.
    • We meet an HA lad who turns out to be Rat's son and knew about the Nice thing with a bouncer who'd done eleven years at Rock City.
    • We ask for a photo and he legs it thinking we might be CID which is exactly what Rat suspected when I first turned up all those years ago.
    • Here's the photo of me, 5'10" and think I'm deadly, with Graham 6'2" and deadly ...
    ... without Rat's son <laugh>

I have no style, class or grace tbh, Jagger was as cool as the other side of the pillow ...

... one of the most relaxed dressing rooms I've ever been in.

People who just know what they're doing and enjoy doing it.

Saw them at Hyde Park 54 years ago on 5th July.
Well actually I tell a lie. I didn't actually see them just lay on the grass at the back enjoying the experience. Joke is was never that keen on the stones or suchlike but enjoyed the whole occasion.
Hitchiked from Slough with a couple of schoolmates
