The club were trying to line up a prem team for the last friendly but none of them could confirm they would field their strongest sides, so now the match is going to be against a La Liga team. We won't have it confirmed until it's all signed sealed and delivered, who do you think it could be? It is not Barcelona or Real Madrid. By the Way - it's Sunday 28th not 29th
I've heard rumours of Real Betis. I'd quite like Athletico Bilbao. Shame it wouldn't be away, could get a Brittany Ferry from Portsmouth to Bilbao yay.
It is apparently not Bilbao. That's a shame because they could have brought some fans over with them. So far we only know who it isn't
Didn't we play Betis a couple of seasons ago during the season? Would prefer to play someone different if we did. Maybe Malaga would be nice. Or Majorca, are they still in La Liga?
Bilbao and Sociedad have one of the best rivalries in football. All the fans meet up before the game and, rumour has it, one team, will "take it easy" if a chance to win the league is possible for the other. please log in to view this image
Real Betis are over here the week before, and playing Bolton on Friday 26th so they are a possibility, and would explain why the match has been moved from Saturday to Sunday.
If only you played in blue and white stripes that could be us and you getting all chummy before the inevitable first head butt......
Yep your right about Betis playing the Hawks PL. Our friendly could be against Rayo Vallecano. They're in England palying Millwall, so an extra 80 or so miles won't do them any harm.
Wait a tic, I was thinking we played Betis in a friendly some time in September/October time the same season, but thinking about it, was it a Russian team of some kind? I know we played someone in a mid-season friendly. Did Deportivo get relegated as well? Last time I heard they were in the drop zone or at least near it.
And so now we know................ Vallencano They have the smallest stadium in La Liga, a capacity of only 14,708.
Alfredo Di Stéfano the brilliant Argentinian footballer from the past, was a former manager of Rayo Vallencano who are the third biggest club in Madrid. Another former manager was Juande Ramos, later of Spurs fame. Francisco Medina Luna, aka Piti , is their captain
