Moan Rangers: Fallen Scottish giants making more noises about moving to English football

Charles Green has claimed stopping Scottish heavyweights Rangers playing in England is a breach of European law.

"I would be delighted to be the chief executive of Rangers that took them into the English league," said Green, chief executive of the controversial Glasgow club that's starting again in Scotland's third division after financial meltdown.

"We are going to pursue it. We've sought legal advice.

"I've had enough indications that Scottish football don't like us and don't want Rangers, so I look at other options.

"I have taken legal counsel, because let's be clear: it is a breach of European competition law to deny Scottish clubs, not just Rangers, the right to play in England.

    "That is against European law.

"I don't believe that the authorities would stand back and try to ignore that position."

Green added on talkSPORT: "You just try and explain to me why a Welsh club can play in the English league but a Scottish club can't."

Berwick play in the Scottish League, so there should be no reason why Newco couldn't start in an English League as long it was Conference North or below.

Exactly - cannot have them coming straight into the league at say NPC level. They would have to work their way up.

Would you want either of the Glasgow clubs in the English leagues?

    I wouldn't.

Both of them would bring their bigotry and sectarianism into Englsih football. They are welcome to each other.

If there's European law at the centre of this then I suggest QPR moves to the Norwegian league and claims a Champions League place at the end of next season.

...or plummet to the Norwegian equivalent of the Ryman league.

I think Rangers should be allowed but not at the expense of teams in the non league structure at the moment.

I mean the very lowest feeder league to show that it's not just motivated by money.

I'm sure the EU competition laws don't allow fast tracking at the expense of even the smallest teams.

If you were to let Rangers and Celtic into our league then you should make it available for all Scottish clubs
    Aberdeen v Plymouth anyone

    Too right.

But if we let them in then where does it end? Do we let every team in? Then we'd need to restructure the whole league and have a GB league.

Personally, I think he's talking out of his arse anyway. I don't think there's a law that says they should be allowed.

I can't see UEFA allowing it as it could potentially destabilise the structure of the Scottish League and other smaller European countries. What if Ajax and Porto and others decided they wanted to join our League?

Green is just ****-stirring to get his own back on the clubs that voted Rangers out...

There will be and soon a European league followed by a second division and the top 36 clubs in Europe will live very happily, the rest of us will bounce around a poor premier league where the top games will be West Brom V Everton and Stoke V Norwich. I have just depressed myself.

I've no doubt there will be a Euro League and sooner than we think. I read that the 'accord' reached to keep the G14 clubs onside runs out in 2014 and they're not happy with the way things are going at present. If they decide to go their own way backed by TV and Betting industry money they'll form their own Super League starting in Europe and eventually sell franchises to form a worldwide second division. The original members of this Super League will effectively be the owners of it and selling franchises will give them money beyond anything we've seen to date. The future is bleak for all but the richest, remember, you heard it here first...
